The Microcar Document Archive

The Microcar Document Archive has a dedicated document store (Marshall Lane House) where the paper documents are located. The store is high security, and hermetically sealed to control the internal environment set to comply with the National Archive recommendations for storing documents.

The number of individual pages of microcar related information and images at present in the store awaiting auditing and cataloguing is approx. 150 000 and steadily growing. We have a capacity for double that volume if required.

A large number of the documents were donated by Tony Marshall from the Surrey Microcar Collection and subsequently other personal collections have been added. In addition, the archive contains microcar club magazines from across the world, along with commercially available classic and general motoring magazines and newspapers, mostly from the UK. Along with books trade literature, video and still photography. The digital archive has not yet been set up and will be stored in the cloud. Once we have catalogued the paper and digital documents, we can then decide what to make available on the Archive web site.

For journalists, authors and researchers wishing to obtain information regarding unusual microcar information held in the archive, they should contact Chris Thomas on chris@rumcars.org.

If anybody has any microcar related documents that you think may be of interest, please contact Chris Thomas to arrange a meeting for a viewing, of the documents.
