Well I have put my name down! The first French national that is also featuring the Inter Autoscooter as the spotlight marque of the show? How could I NOT go! Surely you are not letting me go alone? Who's coming with me? Please note that post 1970 sans permis cars are not welcome, its for vintage stuff only, I guess this is because of the limited numbers that can attend. Get in quick!

hi friends,
as bobby said, our meeting is restricted up to 1970, for the simple reason , that's for me ,the true story of real bubblecars is between 1940 to 1970 ; war and post war period, when poeple created those small cars, able to drive from point a to pt B , fastly and easyly than riding a bicycle . bubble shapes, fiberglass style, candy sweets colors, hopping attitude down the streets ( scheme of our logo ) made my interessed .
Then in early 70's appeared the " without-licences" cars , ( sans-permis) :built to give bad drivers ( not able to be drivers graduate !) possibility to own and drive a car . 50 cc engines, belt-clutch , limited speed where theirs !
As i like them too, i think they are not in the same frame than bubbles. that's the true reason.may be in the future, we'll create a "sans permis " nat's ????? a group of friends are planning a meeting including those sans permis cars ( i 'll sent info for who wants them )in dordogne, in the south west of france
and finally, bubblecars & scooters spirit made me driving for long distances ,( even in city car ) to meet other bubblecars fans ou bb shows . i think i should have been disapointed driving so far  to see new ligier 4 strokes lombardini engines ......
we DO want quality for you : real vintage bubbles and scooters , great landscapes, and authentique food (no crisps, no soda !!)and conviviality !
we actually work hard to give you good souvenir when returning back home ....that's our passion !
thank you for reading me till the end , and nice to meet you in burgundy
regards
jean-do

I know what you are saying Dan and agree but you must see that this is a different situation, there are a limited number of delegates that can attend and if the organisers want a showing of proper bubblecars from the golden era I can understand the ruling. I quite agree with what Jean- do says about how folk would feel if they traveled hundreds of miles to see one hundred top cars and on arrival fifty of them turned out to be 1970's sans permis. Lets face it, most rural frenchman have one of these rotting in their back yards already!

Plus bear in mind Daniel, the Sans Permis is a differant world in its native France and hasn't yet reached the level of affection it has in other countries which never had such vehicles. Rather like invalid carriages in this country actully. Most British folk woun't look twice at a conveyance as most French folk woun't look twice at a Sans Permis.

On a personal level I don't agree with any cut-off age date at any show, but on a profesinal level I can understand why the Balade show cut-off is 1970. After that date the show would indeed be swamped with stuff which is two-a-penny (two-a-Centine?) to most Frenchmen.

Good luck Jean-Do, I for one, wish you every success with the show, even if Sans Permis isn't admitted

oh holly shit ! troubles arrives ...
i'm really sorry for the problem about this resctricted registration . As stuart said, sans permis is a french speciality . they have been created in 1972 ( more or less ), mini comtesse, three wheels arola were the first one of a long long serie, still under construction now .
during the 15 first years, many builders sell those " mobile zigzag cars " , as was great the demand ; and safe streeets were invaded by those quite dangerous " cars" driven by non-licenced drivers ; with 20 mph ( 45 km/h under law ) max speed. and cars drivers began to hate those microcars !imagine driving at 90 km/h ( 50 mph or more !!) in our narrow country roads ( see BSB video ) then discovering at the end of a curve a little fiberglass microcar , at 20 mph : BBeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ..... ( noise of a 49.9 cc belt cluch at top speed ! ) accidents arrived , drivers avoids them with dangerous steering actions .... well , sans permis had no friends in car drivers club !
about 1985 1990 , constructors began , under state rules , to put biggest engines inside ( 250 cc . 400 cc lombardini 4 strokes , still belt cluch ) and were autorized to give 60 kmh ( 30-35 mph ) top speed , to let them less dangerous .micros won powered taillight starting, and hill capacities best . builders gave those cars " human face " with a lot of real cars parts ( doors, front and taillights ) metalised paints, 10" rim wheels, and now , car drivers accept a little more those micros .
of course , a exotic vehicule is still fun out of its country ( velorex is fun in paris , and usual in praha ! )so i do understand , and approuve your foreign passion for those cars . same reaction is when a bubblecar addict in france drives a funny three wheels bond ... three wheels are quite unusual here and make poeple laugh , but i suppose not really in United kingdom, where your state rules favoured them ...
my passion is scooters and bubblecars of the 50's , but i find sans permis fun too , the first generations , were funny with astonishing shapes .some french addicts began to buy those SP , may be for future speculations ?...that's not my passion too ....
all we do want , is giving to all of you a nice weekend, full of conviviality, good food, landscapes, casttles , friends , new bubblecars ... and certainly not " war " or " racialism "between us
excuse my passion ! and my english
sincerely
jean-do

Dear Friends

Is anybody intending to go to the 1St French Bubblecar & Scooter En Bourgogne 2008 event?

I am in two minds about going as I have not booked any holiday for this summer and unless I book something I will have missed the summer all together. If I go I will drive down in my little Honda and could act as an escourt for anybody driving down in a Microcar on their own.

So what are your plans and who will be representing the UK?

Chris Thomas

Dear Jean Do and Friends

I am now very seriously thinking of attending the 1st French Bubblecar rally and whilst getting there and back also visiting 13 Car museums all east of Paris and having a few days in Nice (South of France) and a few at the rally. All in 2200 miles and taking 13 days to do it.

Does anybody fancy joining me? You do not have to be Female, French speaking and have good legs, but it would help.

I expect to stay in a mix of cheap hotels and camping, and taking the cheapest ferry crossing I hope to do it all within a £1500 budget.

If anybody would like to know more please contact me either via the web site, or on my email tileroofconsult@btconnect.com, or in person at the openday at the farm.

I look forward to hearing from you

Chris Thomas

Dear Jean Do

As you can see I have been doing my homework and have found a few more museums to visit, if I have time.

As my Car (Honda Insight) is neither old, or a Microcar, but is unusual, I will arriving as as a visitor to the Rally. To allow me to join in the fun do I need to pay in advance, or when I arrive, and how much?

I am sorry to say that the number of words in my French Vocabulary is only about 10 so I must appologise in advance for any difficulties that this may cause.

I look forward to hearing from you

Chris Thomas

Dear Bob

Is this true that you will be taking the Inter to the French National Bubblecar and Scooter rally at the end of August?

If so how will you be transporting it, which route will you take and presumably you will be leaving on Thursday 28 Aug?

If you are going to be there, it will be good to have another English person to sympathise with.

I think that there will be a little less Passion and a little more enthusiasm that Jean promises.

you give me the news ,now .....
the only foreign driving restored Inter won't be there ??? i can't believe it  !
i won't talk anymore for trying to get you at our 1st nat's ...great deception for all of us , friends of BSB crew , and inter's owners ; but wedding is part of our life !
may be , if we are able to finance the second BSB rally, we'll program it on november the 25 ! may be each one will be married  !!( hope it won't be a problem of frozen weather ...)

Hi Jean-do. I didnt tell you earlier because I was hoping that the wedding date would change as it has already change once so far. There is still hope as it may change again. As regards, winter weddings, my wife and I were married on January 25th on a very cold day! Tell me Jean, how many other French owned Inters will be at the rally? And are any of them in running condition?  Regards, Bob

Dear Jean Do

I see you have been working hard promoting the event and it looks as if it will be a success. But I fear that I will be the only representative from the UK this year. However I intend to report back to all the members of Rumcar what I see and hear and hope that more will come in 2009.

See you in Chateau du Breuil on 30 August

Dear Friends

I have just returned from my Road Trip across France and my attendance at the first National Bubblecar and Scooter rally 2008. The weekend was very well organised thanks to Jean Do and his team, There were some very rare vehicles on show including 5 Inters 1 Rovin, 4 Mochet, 2 Velam, 7 Vespa 400, 2 Atlas, 2 Messerschmitt, (one a tiger), 1 Biscuter. 1 Rolux and 1 Isetta. For the scooter and Triporter fans there were plenty of vehicles to interest you too.

The venue was excellent, the weather was great, and let us hope that it all happens again in two years time.

A full report should be in a future edition of Rumcar news.

Congratulations to Jean Do and his team.

Chris Thomas
