Dear Friends
For those of you that miss the Rumcar home page. Jim has posted up a link to the Rumcar Celebration Weekend web site which provides the up to date status of things you need to know about the Celebration Weekend at School House Farm on 25th and 26 July 2009 www.rumcarcelebration.co.uk
You will see that there is a registration form and accomodation details, plus the list of cars that have registered already. We have capped the list at 50 cars, and 200 enthusiasts without cars. As information is agreed it will be posted on the web site, which should build up as we get closer to the big day.
So if you have a rare Microcar in any condition and want to show it at the event please get your application in now. Also if you want to attend, or want to invite somebody special then please let us have your application as this will be an invitation only event.
For those on the committee (you know who you are) the date for the next meeting will be 5 April. Please email me if you will or will not be attending.
I hope to see you all in July

Some people do not know how lucky they are! Every Summer there are loads of events I want to go to, but they invariably coincide with my gigs, as does this one.

I just changed my browser settings to disallow address bar searching and it now works! Thanks for the tip Jim! Save those Tunnocks for me Mr Dobie! I hope you are eating the genuine article, in the silver and red foil .

Save those Tunnocks for me Mr Dobie! I hope you are eating the genuine article, in the silver and red foil .
"Save those Tunnocks for me" Not another song title?
A genuine Tunnock is THE teacake, yes in the silver and red foil. All the rest are inferior. All that lovely sticky white mallow squidging everywhere when you stuff it in your gob! Yes, I am a messy eater. ;D
-
"Save those Tunnocks for me" Not another song title?
George Formby : "There I stood, with me little Tunnocks Teacakes in My Hand" Ooh er, madam! Turned out nice again inti?
-
No it's not. It's Brotherhood Of Man - Save Your Kisses For Me. But without a Tunnock in your mouth. ;D
-
Tunnocks for me, save all your Tunnocks for me,
Bye bye Baby Bye bye
Jeez I nearly wrote that one but resisted because I knew I would get that @*#+™€‹ ™ song into my head, too late, GRRRRRRRRRRRRR, poltroons, troglydites, bashi-bazouks, ostrogoths, Red Sea Pirates, Australopithecines! (™ Captain Haddock)
-
Don't forget the Billions of Blue Blistering Barnacles marcus..... ;D ;)
-
I left that bit for you, Stuart! Have you got your £20 box set of 10 DVDs/21 episodes of Tintin Cartoons yet? Thundering Typhoons, what are you waiting for?
-
Dear Chris,
What is the little car with balloons on the Celebration Weekend site?
Is it real or an artists idea of a microcar?
Rob.
-
Its real, being a Mitsuoka MC-1 from Japan. By amazing coincidance I bought a brousure for these on eBay last month.... ;D
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250360954764
-
Well I never. Is there no end to your expertise Stuart. You clever old stick. Thanks :-*
-
And now the main question is; are there any in the UK & will any turn up at the big weekend? :)
-
And the second question is: Have you sent in your invitation form for entering your vehicle?
There's only FOUR months to go!!!!
-
I just looked at the list of cars registered to attend the event, I think its 24 so far and some sound quite interesting, for instance its been a long time since I saw an AF Spider. Also looking forward to seeing the triking. Neither are microcars but what the heck! I'm hopeing the best is to come. What do you think of the list so far?
-
I was interested to see Bob P's comments on the attending cars. We hope that there will be a wide spectrum of cars coming. At the moment all those booked in are on the Register, as we have over the years bent the rules a little if the vehicle was nearly a micro but very interesting. That does not mean your car has to be on the Register to attend, but no doubt by the end of the weekend it will be after all it only costs £1 to put a car on the Register. We have made contact with a lot of people who we know have interesting vehicles that we would love to see even if they are not in pristine condition., However, please []don't wait to be inviited make contact with us, unfortunately we have a pre-booking system to gauge what facilities we need to provide and space could become a problem with 'spur of moment' arrivals. So please book your spot as soon as you can - the more unusual the microcar the better- pristine condition not essential .What about a Triporter or two or even some of the more modern micros that have been written about in RUMCAR NEWS like the G-whizz or the City-El. Just may be we can persuade some of Continental friends to join us bringing with them some gem that we have never seen in Kent before. Please give it some thought we would love to see anyone who wants to celebrate 25 years (ans still going strong) of RUMCARS just make contact through the web site www.rumcarcelebration.co.uk first I am looking forward to meeting both old and new friends in July.
-
And now the main question is; are there any in the UK & will any turn up at the big weekend
I saw one for sale at Beaulieu a few years back, so there's at least one in the UK. To be honest it's not my cup of tea, but I suppose it's a case of whatever floats your boat.
-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250360954764
Stuart why don't you have ago a finding the one seen at Beaulieu and get the owner to bring it to the Celebration Weekend? Now there's a challenge! Jean
-
Has anybody looked at the list of attending vehicles and there owners lateley, there is either some kind of error on the page or someone is having a laugh! All the vehicles and owners are jumbled up, all of a sudden I own a TG500 [not that I'm complaining mind!], Norbert Mylius has suddenly aquired an Inter Torpedo, Mike webster now is the proud owner of a Wrigley electric chair, Ken Kimber owns a P50, and the fun goes on! Looks like the event is going to be a swap meet! :D :D :D
-
Is it your computer gone funny Bob? Cus the list makes sense by mine! Pity really, for one exciting moment I thought the list was going to show me as a Model 70 owner again..... :'( Mind you, I'm sure if you asked Norbert nicely he really wouldn't mind suddenly being an Inter Torpedo owner! ;)
-
Hi Stuart. You are right as usual! Last night I was using my wife's PC which has a special wide screen for her ancestry research, it appears to play havoc with the layout of other sites like the forum! I checked back on my own machine and all was normal. I just looked again on hers and there is more gobbledygook, I'm now down for bringing a Invacar model 70, now we both know that cant be right!! Sorry you will not be at Jeans tomorrow, a lame excuse though, are you sure it was not the mention of ditch digging that put you off? :D :D :D See you next time. Bob
-
Just looked again at the list of cars attending. I didn't notice before but Norbert is not only bringing the Felber but also a Libelle, this is a fantastic microcar which he took to Story 2002, It completely stole the show! At least its looking like there will be a handfull of rare microcars there amongst the commonal garden variety. Oh boy, Tunnocks and rare microcars, I cant wait!!! :-* :-* :-*
-
And here is a prevew.
-
Dear Bob
I am sorry to give you some bad news but Norbert is unable to bring both cars but has promised to bring one. We have suggested that he brings the Libelle but he has not confirmed which car he will bring, hence we have both listed.
Which ever he brings they are both very rare and worth seeing
There are a few more cars to add to the list and I believe one further deletion, so there are still some suprises to come.
Please remember to encourage all your petrol head friends and relatives to visit the Rumcar Celebration web site and encourage them to come to the event and to register before they came.
Two weeks to go and counting.
Chris Thomas
-
Right, thats it, I'm not coming!! :D :D
-
Bags I the tonnocks, becuse today I've at last (technically) completed doing up the Wrigley Electric Chair! ;D As we're on about rarity (as usual) I'll just remind everyone that this will be one of the weekend's rarer little visitors, for after all, it's the only known complete example out of one & a half examples known in total, and this will be it's first public apperance for forty years. :o I've got my seat for the cinagramatic presentation Saturday night, how about you?.... ;)

Don't worry Jean, the ICR looks set to save the day & make up the numbers as me & Ian shall be dragging a very derilict one out of a hedge in Marden, just up the road from Staplehurst on the Friday afternoon, following a call out of the blue yesterday from its owner who has been ordered by his wife to clear some his projects.... :) It all worked out rather well really, as regards timescale & location. It'll be on the waggon along with all our other stuff due to hit School House Farm sometime Friday afternoon.... ;D :-*

If you would like another, I surely can bring my 1950 AC All-Weather.
It will be on a trailer though. What, another IC? >:( >:( >:( 8) Let me know.
-
Hi. This thread has been pruned in the interests of peace and harmony on the forum. This being done by mutual consent of the two Bobs who have since kissed and made up! Let the fun re-commence!!!
-
Stuart
The one you and Ian are dragging out the hedge - It's not the Invacar that I "left" behind at Goodwood is it?
Mike
-
Dear Cuscus 47
an AC all weather regardless of if it running or not will be very welcome. There will be many vehicles that will not be road worthy but of considerable interest to visitors. Get it registered and bring it along.
Chris Thomas
-
Dear Bob and Rob
I do hope that was a long distance Air Kiss with not too much make up (lip stick).
Chris Thomas
-
Mmmm, Nice! :-*
-
Ian,
Is the AC All Weather the "long lost Mk 1" that surfaced in 2004?
Rob.

Ian,
Is the AC All Weather the "long lost Mk 1" that surfaced in 2004?
Rob.
Bingo. ;D
I had been negotiating since 2007 with the previous owner and in May he conceded to let me have it. ;D
I will be picking it up on the way to Jean's. 8)
It's been some hard yacker, but worthwhile. ;D ;D ;D
-
Great, I am looking forward to seeing it, the only one in the world! ;D
-
Just under 5 days to go
The weather forecast for Saturday is Overcast, but for Sunday will be clear skies so be prepared for heat and sun,
We look forward to seeing you all, with your very rare microcars, Remember that there will be food and drink available (at very reasonable prices) and plenty of Microcar goodies to buy and win.
For those of you that are Marshals, please arrive as early as you can as there is lots to do before anybody arrives, and there will be plenty of clearing up after they have gone.
Do not forget to bring some chairs to sit on and a Gazebo or Umbrella.
See you all over the weekend
Chris Thomas

The weather looks set for improvement, there is no sign of Warwick Festival being cancelled, so have a great time one and all, and wish I could be there, but hope to see lots of lovely pixs here soon.

-
Yes, a great weekend meeting Rumcar people. Pity my car's exhaust broke it's back and spoilt the Saturday for me. Also , a shame over a dozen listed cars never arrived.
Thanks for the praise and gifts Jean for the 6-7 year struggle ;D with Gordon. Also thanks to Jackie for the "Gordon" spanner. I hadn't got that size in my kit.
Rob.

Dont you dare young Planty!
-
Dear Forum Friends
Have you played spot the marshalls avoiding work at the Celebration Weekend?
Just go to the photo gallery on the celebration weekend web site and see Jim Lugsden pretending to be interested in invalid cars and Mike Plant trying to ignore his small shadow.
I gurantee there will be more on the way.
Chris Thomas
-
Dont you dare young Planty!
Hmm! If I censored everything there'd be nothing left! :-X I'm already sworn to secrecy concerning which micro bits fit what and what rarities are where etc etc...
-
There is an old saying " Publish and be damned!" Just go for it!
-

.Enjoyed the very late night beer drinking too ...even after the bar closed ;D ;D
Ah yes, such were the high jinks that developed after dark following an unholy hook-up of the combined might of the Peel Mafia & the ICR... ;) Just remember though Peel fans, the ICR holds the incriminating blackmailable photos of just WHO was raiding the bar.... ;D :o
It's now late Monday night & the photos of the weekend are yet to be transferred from the camera, but from the ICR's corner, the weekend's highlights include;
Myself & Ian Hellings traveling up by temperamental Sherpa pick-up & breaking down in the centre lane of the M25 in the middle of the Friday rush hour & causing "several" miles of traffic jams whilst I was under the bonnet whacking the diesel pump with a large stick.... :o
Myself, Ian Hellings & Richard Morley dashing off into the Kent countryside just before the Saturday roadrun & coming back with a freebie Harding Electric carriage we had been offered providing we were prepared to drag it out of the hedge where it had lain for over a decade... 8)
The aforementioned unholy Saturday Night union between the ICR & the Peel Mafia.... ;)
Grant Kearney setting off across the field in pitch dark in his Peel Trident & almost rolling it after launching straight into that ditch which runs right across the field.... ::)
Lining numbers 1, 2, 3 & 4 of the world's four smallest production cars up side by side..... :o 8)
Bob Dobie & his mate Ernie doing athletics on the back of the Sherpa having "volunteered" to assist loading up the AC All Weather & Harding on the Sunday Afternoon.... :-*
My tent slowly disintergrating ever further as the weekend wore on..... ::)
How many can you remember? ;D
-
Remember mr cyphus in one of the photos you have one of them incriminating beers in your hand ...or is your hand ????? ;D :D
-
My tent slowly disintergrating ever further as the weekend wore on..... ::)
So that was your tent! We thought someone had reversed into it! :o
I'd just like to add that it was a great weekend and we enjoyed it no end so thank you to all those involved for organising it. :)
-
Yep, that was my tent. Things started badly when one of the main poles broke at midnight Friday night, leaving me to prop the roof up with sticks. Then Sunday morning the sun melted the seams & the whole thing split down the middle & up the sides, so Sunday afternoon I jest scooped the whole lot into a wheelbarrow & brought it round to the field to try & pack it away in the Comtesse. I think the roving cameraman planty cought some of this? I seem for some reason to be gaining a reputation for extreame camping, on the one hand with the amazing disintergrating tent & on the other turning up at the Peel rally in 2005 with the world's smallest micro tent which some folk mistook for two black sacks sewed together.... A big thanks indeed to the top bananna :-* for taking pity on me for Sunday night & leaving me his pop-up tent for the duration when I was fully preparing to kip on a load of old cardbourd in the hay shed.
Right then, photos! Here's four for going on with:-
(http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z211/stuartcyphus/S7303057.jpg)
The ICR's small contribution to the occasion.....
Deep in the Bubble Building, something intresting lurked....
Micro Marshall being persuaded that this is what he wants for next Christmas.....
Guess who got the booby prize....
-
NIce pictures Stuart. The story going around was that Ian had reversed into your tent, just a rumour then? My theory is that you fell onto it in an inebriated condition after being lead astray by the hard drinking Peel scientists, after all it is reported that you were holding two pints at a time or is this another rumour? I'm only pulling ya leg! It was good to meet Ian and his wife , they are really nice people. I wonder what the chances are of Jean allowing another two day event at the farm in the future? Maybe a biannual event?
-
You'll all be pleased to know that the booby prize was rapidly rehomed to one of the kids at the rally - on
condition that I took her and her Dad for a spin in the Tuk Tuk!
Seems like everyone had a cracking weekend - looking forward to the next one already. Thanks to everyone
for putting it together.
Amities a tous et a toutes
Nick D.

I just knew I had forgotten something!! I didnt bring my microcar!!!
-
Dear Bob
The actual thought going through my brain was " Now we have got to pack up everything before the rain comes down" which thankfully it did not.
If I had tryed to get a car ready for the show, get it there, go on the road run and get it back, I would not have been able to manage the event as I did.
Perhaps next time Bob, if you organise the event, I will try and bring along the microcar that I have at that time.
Thanks again for your support.
Chris Thomas
-
Ahh , so thats what you were thinking! Fair enough Chris, you cannot do it all. I really like the picture though, its just begging for some more captions! Any suggestions anyone?
-
"Who's Nicked my Toupe???"
-
I had a fine time.
Just hope my lungs have recovered from a certain Nobels emissions!
-
Hi Perry, yes, my lungs felt a bit choked up after the run too. I don't think the Nobel was the only culprit though, the cloud of smoke we all left behind us was a joint effort. On the way back Planty and I were at the back of the convoy and got the full benefit of all the smoke! What an excellent cream tea we had at Headcorn though! Oh the memories! Cough cough!!
-
Blob, if you are not too busy painting and decorating can you please confirm your address so that I can send you your Celebration Weekend Medallion. Jean
-
Don't worry jean, Bob had 2, (one for each of his cars I guess) but he let me have one of the two, so unless it's different from the yellow one, I'm OK.
-
Found in the dark corner of our "Little Chef" a fold up garden seat. I thought it belonged to Malcolm and Sheila but they tell me they have their full quota! Please let me know if you are a seat short. Jean
-
In order to make the pictures of the cars on the Celebration web site more interesting to those folk who are not so good at recognising the more unusual microcars may I suggest that each owner whose car is featured adds it's Rum No., Make and Model, year of manufacture and engine size. This can be done very easily by clicking on to' add comment'. I have taken the liberty of adding these details to two of the cars whose owners do not have access to the internet, I do you agree it is a good idea. JEAN
-
Great idea Jean, also names of people!
-
Sorry, but where can i find this pictures ?

Just when you thought it was safe!... Here is that very photo.... ;D I hereby point out that the left-hand side of the photo is a stitch-up! That's not my hand! I know my hand anywhere & that's not it!!!!! :o Bonus points to those who can idenitfy the other misicrents. ;)

Looks like Ollie and Andy to me but I cant believe that the Scotsman is not involved somehow! He is probably under the table drinking straight from the barrel! :D :D :D
