Nice one Jim! I have a "Gold Portfolio" book about shmitts, and there is a publicity shot of Richard Widmark by the car and Mai Zetterling (?) inside it which was used fro advertising. I assumed the film had long-since dissappeared. About 10 or 15 years ago I saw a film on TV called Emil and the Detectives, based on a bokk I loved when I was about 7, and there is a brief glimpse of a passing Messershmitt in it, possibly a TG 500. As you get TCM you might want to watch out for that one too!

Great film clips! Two things I noticed, the finish of the new KR175 was pretty crumby so I guess we do over restore them and secondly Mr Widmark treated it like a caveman! Every time he got out he just dropped the door shut with a bang as if he was slamming the door on a Cadillac or something, I cringed each time! Great publicity for the company though, I bet it sold a few cars!

Oh well, thats two bands you have drummed in dressed as a woman and they are just the ones we know about, I'm beginning to worry about you old chum! I think we were halfway through playing Apache here. You will also observe the average age of our audience!

Rob, If you are getting personal can I recommend you try JUST FOR MEN, "you'll make a nice catch for someone!" . :D :D :D... How about "The Traveling Rumberries"?
Marcus, The answer is yes and yes. He needs glasses but always just happens to wear black rimmed jobs when we have a gig. How do I know we were playing Apache? Its the only one I use that electrocoustic guitar in.

Mmmm, "Apache". Possibly the third-best instramental of all time in my opnion, after the Tornado's "Telstar" & "Love & Fury" (in no particular order, just depends what day it is!) If the Sillouettes can play either one of those, I'll be in the front row of their next gig. Even more so if they also do Steeleye Span's "Cam ye o'er frae France?" on the same card. The cover-ers of this song have oft-times tried to emulate the lead-in to this song, but none do it like the originals.....

I just had a look on Amazon uk to see if this film is around, but they list a modern Disney (gag choke) re-make. The original one was filmed in Germany (possibly Berlin) in the 1950s, and the location shots are given extra interest and poignancy by the war damage, (just like some of the UK films like the Lavender Hill Mob) as well as the vehicles. I think I will probably give a very wide berth to the Disney one!

I used other makes in the 1990s, Black, Chestnut and Silver Blond but gave up after a disasterous Sunday night bleaching and dying. My hair turned PINK and all the shops were shut so I had to go to work on the Monday! It caused quite a laugh at the Post Office.
A nice catch? I'm not a fish! Although I have been called fishface once or twice. I don't think anyone would want me now, too stuck in my own old ways.

Status Noo? I have done a bit of noodling as I'm sure Bob P. has done many times.
Had to laugh over the D. Brothers as in the early 1970s my Brother was called up to testify in a mates court case when he was fobbed off with a ropey car. Fiddled MOT etc. It should have been me as I had looked over the car and OK'd it. When they kept asking questions to my Brother he denied everything. The judge turn on the defence saying " I think you have the wrong Dobie Brother" Our mate won his case and the MOT issuing garage lost their testing licence.
To those who don't know there is a US rock group called The Doobie Brothers who began in 1969/70. The Judge just got muddled!

my older brother has a Vox Phantom guitar (diamond style) with Hank Marvin's tag on the bridge, very collectable these days

Oh really, I didnt know he endorsed Vox guitars, I know the shads played Burns guitars for a while as a promotion but soon went back to Fenders. Mick our lead player has a large guitar collection and the other year bought a Burns marvin annivesary and I have to say that it is excellent! I currently play a Yamaha APX electraccoustic and for the electric numbers I use a Guild Starfire. To be honest Vox made great amps but the guitars were not much cop , as you say, collectable just the same. Do you remember one of the stones used to play a Vox teardrop?

Bob. my younger brother uses a Burns in the Fezheads as his main guitar. I think there's a pic of the stick guitar I made for myself a few years ago. And the electric bass ukulele (formerly bass guitar!) which Carla decorated, it has bright blue LEDs in its electrics. Poser, MOI?! Your drummer might like to see the pics of my drum stuff too.
Now before Jim brings us back to topic, Why Do Penguins Prefer Billiards to Snooker? Discuss.
