anyone attend/have photos?
-
Hi
I attended on the Sunday and took my "numbers" Trojan and a few autojumble bit's not much since I have booked a stall down at Beaulieu which is the coming weekend - there were quite a assortment of cars there 2 Scootocars one Frisky one Nobel two Peel Tridents and one P 50 two Goggomobils one saloon and one coupe, and the normal attendance of Bonds Heinkel/Trojan, Messerschmit and Isetta's - I did join the Micro-Maniacs while I was there and look forward to there magazine which I'm sure will contain photos of the event - I sadly did not take any photos of this event.

Another legendary National that was enjoyed by all. Great cars, great people and reasonable weather what more could you want?
The site was buzzing with activity for 4 days and with so many friends to talk shop to and interesting cars to examine there really should have been another day. Alas the bar could not cope with the demands and the beer barrels were running dry by early Sunday morning.
In traditional Maniacs style rally was 'Max fun, Min cost'. Great to meet the Alan Evans of Bamby fame who was judging and handing out the awards.
A big thank you to Jim, Terry and the Maniacs
So where were all the famous 'Rumsters' ???.

Yes that'll be before you broke my KR! Oddly enough I don't look bald there!
Anyway bald is beautiful!! Was a good bash. Driving the dales was seminal.

Looks like I missed a good weekend! Unfortunately it's a bit early in my new relationship to say "Sorry, love, I know it's your birthday on Saturday but I'm off to the Nationa Microcar Rally!"
Maybe next year, then.
Amitie a tous et a toutes

Understood Nick! Next year suggest a late Summer camping week end and you'll be alright!

So where were all the famous 'Rumsters' .
Well, I’m in the middle of house renovation hell. Never, never, never again, not even if you paid me a ton of money will I take on another project of this magnitude, (No! My on going Nobel resto doesn’t count) :o

Unfortunately i didnt attend the NMR.It seems i missed a great weekend. :(

Hi folks, it was my first visit to the National which I really enjoyed. I made some great contacts and picked up a couple of micro car books as well. For those of you who were there you may have noticed my newly acquired Teilhol Citadine on a trailer, having attended the Great Dorset Steam Fair I collected it at 12-30am Sunday morning near Southampton and drove through the night to reach the National before most people had surfaced from their tents, caravans and campers!
We arrived back in Ireland on Monday evening having covered just over 1,000 miles, I'm still recovering!. I took quite a few photos and if someone would volunteer to post them here which is beyond my capabilities then I will gladly email them to you. Thanks, Les.
-
Quite a journey there Les!
-
Hi Les
I thought I saw a Citadine on a trailer in the background of one of the shots of the National. I thought it was Steve Vine's but now you say it came from Southampton all becomes clear! I helped Steve buy it from a French lady called Nicole Midrouet a few years ago and when I email her she always asks about it. Please let me know if you restore it or even get it running as she would be very pleased to hear of any progress.
Regards
Nick D.

Maybe I'll quote you on that and see if I get away with it!
-
Hi Nick,
Yes, its the same Citadine all right, I purchased it from Steve bank in June but he kindly
kept it until I came over at the weekend. My message to say I would collect it on Saturday
evening hadn't reached him and we only made contact about 7pm., he was a true gentleman
and cut his night out short to meet us at his yard at midnight and load the Citadine. I will certainly
keep you posted on any progress with getting it up and running. Thanks, Les.
-

Very nice, what's that scooter next to the Bond in the last pic, first batch?
-
Bond Minibyke perhaps... just wondering what the white car in the last 2 pics 2nd batch? The front looks familiar but I can't remember the name of the 3 wheeler I saw it on.

Bond Minibyke.

Bohanna Stables Ltd. "Nymph" Hillman Imp powered.
-
Both are new to me and look quite nice, with an Imp engine in a small light car it should be quite lively.
-
Now I remember...I thought the front end of the "Nymph" looked a little like that hideous contraption the 'Ranger Cub'. Though in reality there's little comparison. http://www.minimarcos.org.uk/altpics/ranger/os.jpeg

Norbert Mylius from Austria would also like to know more about the "Bond Minibyke" (perhaps someone took a photo of whatever is taped to the windscreen?)
For anyone interested THIS LINK: http://members.lycos.co.uk/bond_club/Minibyke.htm (http://members.lycos.co.uk/bond_club/Minibyke.htm) has a bit more info on the Bond MiniByke
Norbert would also like to know a bit more about this car:

-
That caught my attention too, looks a bit like Autobianchi, but the rear window is novel.
-
It looks like to me a Second Series Berlina or the Panoramica from Autobianchi. A sort of wagon or square-back version of the Bianchina. Year 1965 to 69. I have a poster on my wall of the Twenty-four models of the Bianchina's and this is similar but difficult to say exactly without seeing better the rear form. :)
-
Hi Jim,
The sign on the windshield of the Bond Minibyke read 'For Sale or Swap' I spoke with the owner
Alan Evans the creator of the 'Bamby' who said he would prefer to swap for a microcar rather than sell for cash. Les

shame Mr Kearney is only half-restored too!
-
Sam Glover from Practical Classics, who attended the rally with his Lada has done a write up on their website which includes some
nice pics
see it yourself at :
http://www.practicalclassics.co.uk/news.php?sid=1048&page=1
Will this develop into a feature in a future Practical Classiscs :o

For as long as I've known him, he's only ever been half restored! ;) :-*
And don't forget folks, lots more National '09 photos to be seen on the National Microcarcar Rally website at;
http://www.national-microcar-rally.co.uk/2009_photo_gallery.htm
They want to add more photos, so get on & send 'em in. Anyone got a shot of Alan Evans himself standing next to the Bamby?
