Title: Anyone want a Villiers 11e engine?
Post by: adi on September 11, 2009, 01:15:24 PM
Just wandering, if this engine which i have, a 11e which is incorrect for my Scootacar, was surplus to requirement, would anyone want to buy it? Its a running 11e complete with gearbox dynostarter etc, but with a broken carb. Can look up engine number if required.

Courier (dhl) will be like £23 for next day delivery. I will happily pack it etc and hand it over to them.

Price, i dont know, the money is going towards another more suitable engine, so please offer me what you would consider a fair offer, you know these things better then me. Thanks.

Hi Adi. What is "a more suitable engine?" alarm bells are beginning to ring.

Hahahah....dont worry, its not a Hayabusa turbo lump....yet  :P

Just an original scootacar 9e engine has showed up, which is the correct lump for this car.

I was getting worried too! Over the years several people have dropped engines into various micros to get higher levels of performance, without considering the limitations of the brakes and handling.

Yes, its an emotive subject and everyone sees it differently. We see a lot of it in the Schmitt world and the argument is that so long as they do it in such a way that it can be reversed its ok. I guess they have a point but surely if a classic vehicle does not suit a persons need why not sell it on to a more appreciative owner and buy something else that does suit? That my take on it.

I think the problem stems from some people's wish to be different AND surprise other motorists with higher than normal performance. Nothing wrong with that as  long as informed and skillful work is done to improve the structure, suspension, steering, brakes....!

Nothing wrong with that so long as they do it to a kit car and not destroy our microcar heritage.

Well, i gotto say, EVERYONE likes sleepers! And they smaller they are the better.

Like that Bedford Rascal/Suzuki Supercarry with a bike engine that was on Ebay recently.

A buddy of mine once had a Suzuki Swift, completely 'old man spec', he even left the old muffler hanging off the back. It was powered by  a 1600 turbo lump from something or other, with a side exit exhaust. That was cool.

But anyway, dont worry i will not do anything like this to the scootacar. So does anybody want to buy my engine?
