Title: What's with these Peel P50 differences?
Post by: Jonathan Poll on January 12, 2011, 07:32:36 PM
Hi,

I am making a Lego Peel P50, and I'm soon going to do the engine. I see some have an empty space where the engine is ( see here )

and some just have a hole

PS: that was my dad's old peel :)

It's the differance between Mk 1 & Mk 2 P50's.  :) Roughly the first 15 or so being Mk 1's with the detachable side engine cover with small vent & full-with detachable rear "skirt" panel as well.  The Mk 2 has a completly differant floorpan with a dirty great hole in the side of the car where the engine lives, looking like a shark's taken a bite.  ;)  The only removeable bits on a Mk 2 floorpan is the exreme rear mudguard & the flap bit between the engine & front wheel.  Simples "eeekkk"   ;D

In the below picture, the blue one is a Mk 1, & the red one a Mk 2....

The red P50, an Mk2 is the former A. Fulton car. The blue P50, an MK 1, is the first replica built in the mid 80th. First owner was Gunter Paland from Germany. The car was, as far as i can remember me, built with genuine parts. Unfortunately i've got no clue of its whereabouts.
The red car is somewhere in the cologne area, not far away from my home.
