Has anyone any knowledge about the Edith car I saw at the Birdwood Mill recently?

There was an article about it in RCN 40 if you can find a copy, unfortunately it is now out of print.  Fred Diwell of the Australian Mciroar and Scooter Club provided the information so I should try him.  Jean

Dear Zetasport

Only 12 Edith cars were built in East Oakleigh, Melbourne in about 1956/7 and only one is known to survive. It has a Villiers 197cc engine driving the rear wheel. it had rack and pinion steering and two transverse elliptic springs at the front and two quater elliptics at the rear. The bodywork is sheet steel welded directly to the simple tubular steel chassis. The price was quite high at £455 and with poor road handling on rough roads. not many people wanted such a vehicle when they could buy a second hand Ford or Holded more easily.
