Title: Not everyone liked Micros!
Post by: Jonathan Poll on August 27, 2011, 10:39:13 PM
Look what Elvis thought of his Schmitt!

And, doesnt this remind you of a 175 that went for sale?

(Yes, I know its the towel rack, it just looks like the fins)

It is one of the popular photos!

I had a dream a whi;e back that the owner of the schmitt moved to France, in a town near us, and I went to see him, and the car was a complete wreck, only the monocoque survining!

Why he bought it is something of a situation along the lines of 'Its one. For the money. Two. For the show, Three? to get ready to feed the cat'!

Why are you putting words in his mouth? Here's what the King himself said about the Messerschmitt:

Sounds like a good swap to me - for the clothes shop owner.

Yeah, a Messerschmitt with a MR EA Presley as the last owner sure would suit me.

I reckon it's a 1950s Cadillac Hearse painted white.

The photo is actually a 1954 Cadillac Eureka 3-way Landau Hearse - I don't know what the 3-way means (conception location, ambulance and hearse perhaps?).

With American Hearses, "Three-way" means it has a rotating deck which alows the coffin to to enter/leave the hearse in one of three directions, either out the rear in the normal way or through each rear side door.  The American's also had "Combination" hearse's which could double as both hearses and ambulances with the changing of a few fittings until the late 1970s. Our own Ian Hellings has a 1940s Packard combination hearse/ambulance which would house two Goggo's line astern inside & still not touch the ends....

Dear Stuart

Does this mean that if a patient dies whilst in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, they can flick a lever and go straight to the undertakers. They think of everything those Yankies.

Slater Nazi. 'We will be round in our three way Reliant hearse. We can cook 'em, plant 'em or sink 'em'. Free glass with every stiff'.

I am in awe of such specialist knowledge.

And a little disturbed that anyone would know this......

:) It's not just me, there's a whole club.  The Classic Hearse Register, of which I've been a member for as long as I have been the RUM in fact. It was a 1960s Vanden Plas Princess hearse which did a lot to spark off my intrest in cars way back in 1991, when at the tender age of ten & knee-high to a grasshopper, the sheer size of the thing just utterly captivated me. It doesn't get much different though, hearses & bubblecars...

And a part demonstration of a Three-way deck....

I am not surprised! Some grasshopper that. Lucky it was not a cricket, they can be carnivorous. Then again maybe you were just a late developer. They are strange folk the other side of the Thames you know. I blame the accessibility to Oolite.

Sorry easy target.

:) It's not just me, there's a whole club.  The Classic Hearse Register,

Yes it is stiff with members and not dead boring! Slight Goth flavour coming in and I had a girl friend who wanted me to get a hearse. I never had a girl friend who wanted me to buy a microcar, so there is something in it. Beats on line dating. Great for a lass into flower arranging too.
Slightly worried by young Roots logic here. Keen on microcars but mainly puttering pimples. Into invalid carriages and hearses. There is logical progression here. My advice is do not do it, it sounds unhealthy and painful!
