Title: What's it got to do with the Tiger?
Post by: Jonathan Poll on November 25, 2011, 05:25:35 PM
Hey all,

A while back, I came across pics of the Tiger Jet.

My dad already knew about it, but I'm sure not all of you do.

Whats the link between the Tiger and the Tiger Jet? Surely thats why they named it the Tiger!
Some pics of it under construction had a kr200 steering batr, but newer photos had a full round wheel.

One things sure... Its not really a micro! I guess they must have done it to advertise the TG?
(sorry one of the pictures is giant. Dependinog on your browser, you may be able to see it full size by right clicking, and going on "open image in new tab"

I have heard of it vaguely, but very keen to learn more about it, and how it relates to KRs and TGs

All I know is that its a car by Auto Union/DKW and FMR

I like the way they kept the same type of build as a schmitt, simple chassis

That would be Frankenschmitt, USA.

The first picture looks to have quite a few differences to the others. I wonder if it is the same chassis.

There's more about this car on the Autosport forum. Bet he wore out a few drills on those suspension arms

Cheers Rusty Chrome! A great piece about Fritz Fend within that link, mostly things I know about, but nice to see some racing people learning about "our" hero, AND some of them giving positive opinions of his work!

Yep, I love all ofh is cars. Fend Flitzer is probably my least favortie, but I still love it!

I guess the TG500 prototypes (all 3!) are my fave, they just look so great...

I also love 175s, but my dad says there crap to drive. Not suprised seingn the hand controls!

What about this one?

What about this one?

Isn't that just a Tiger sport? A few of them were built. Not sure about how many surviving, I know of one that was originally sport, and normal top (not sure if it was bubble or cabrio). Some racing comany ordered the TG to have a spare sport top, so its oritinal.

I thought it might be just an ordinary Tg 500 (if there is such a thing). It does have the regular 'Regensburg' number plate.

Yes, just as I thought.

Fend did make a load of unusual vehicules. First of all, the mokuli is unusual, the FMR go kart, the Tiger sprint, the FK150, P-511, K-106.
