On it's own, or are you going to throw in something with it?

Look at Bruce's list of sales. Plenty to dream about.

A diversion was the engine website that Marcus? posted with all the oddball ICE, Steam and other engines invented, patented including stuff that does not really work. Fascinating. I never got round to seeing if Grandfather's 'reciprocating radial' was on it. My latest diversion into this area was looking up the Commer TS3 'knocker' supercharged reciprocating diesel engine as used in the Commer Avenger bus chassis two of which my bud has bought. From there you can check out all the layouts for steam locos, including some completely bonkers ones. Of course all that opens up double checking on youtube for live clips of surviving kit including tractors with square back wheels used to grind trenches with a girt blade on the back. Looks like its drunk when on the move.

If your really board read the Rockall chronicles about the island that used to be there. These people think its real and, yep it was high enough to be dry land in the ice age. Sadly it had a large ice lump on it which was attached to the contenants each side of the Atlantic, but other than that I am convinced this is all true!

Thanks for that rob . Company device so can't complain but limited in capacity for trawling the internet. Better than nothing whilst away from laptop and pc . What would you all do without me for a week at a time ? Best not answer that !

My wife has an I phone and would agree. The company gives me some I functions which I appreciate but I think we already spend way to much of our incomes on communications. 30 years ago we had a moderate monthly phone bill. Nowadays including rentals , updates and whatever its serious business , ask anyone with wife and teenage children ! Crazy !

I have a luminous Frisbee, great on summer hols. Every few minutes you have to shine your car's headlights on it for a couple of seconds.

@At Al: glad you like that site...endlessly fascinating! The Sience Museum's blog page also has things of interest.

I bought a Blackberry in Tesco yesterday, well several of them actually, a whole punnet of them in fact. Very tasty. Nom nom nom.
A bit too crunchy though, especially the screens.

McDonald's

The Campbell's missed that particular branch of the clan as they went to Ireland and dropped the 'a' from the Scots clan MacDonald. That is why they used to/still (?) fund the IRA via their American Irish contact societies. One reason I refuse to go in one of their outlets.

They possibly invented the fries during the potatoes famine, hence the lack of real potatoes in their version of what should be chips or French fries, which are more than likely actual Belgium fries. The Hamburger is an equally confusing consumable bastardizing German and other food items into a different food product. I still am in awe of their 'shakes' which ought to be called 'firms'. It is not a drink, is it? Still their by no means alone in their culinary attack and clearly people want to eat this stuff.

'Its food, Jim, but not as we know it'.

McDonalds, putting the Muck into food.

Close enough, award yourself a pint at your own expense!
That reminds me, I have not had a beer for 2 or 3 weeks, been too busy. This week I am less busy so perhaps a tipple on friday evening, YAY!

Sorry al I have no time for food fascism. I like a mcdonald burger and I doubt there is much difference in reality between the minced beef in a big mac and that in a bolognese , meat ball ,lasagne or whateva in most restaurants . A little of what you fancy does you good and I do .rather have decent chips than fries but yorkshire chips are revolting

Not food fascism. I do not care to support a firm who has funded blowing up our soldiers even if it is indirectly. I do not happen to like their offering either, which makes my absence easier. I have to confess I tend not to eat meat unless I know where it has come from these days. So if out I often go for fish as it tends to be less messed about. The picky eating does not sit well with my previous younger self who noshed most things as the fancy took me.

Potatoes that are not grown in Yorkshire, Staffs and Linc?, will revolt if sent to Yorkshire. So do quite a few other things!

The Solway has a similar propensity for fatty and fried foods as Scotland. I agree that it is quite hard to find more healthy or interesting snacks or well priced meals. Once your near the coast you can find sea food outlets, fantastic. Chips are really a banned food for me save special occasions.
