I love the styling of the Piatti but I'm told they were lethal to ride!

NOt familiar with this Binz but I do like it. Recognize that rear light?

Crikey Bob. Don't go telling everyone about the Piatti.................................The Binz is interesting but 50cc!
-
Oooops! Sorry, I have been associating to much with Mike Plant! Do you want me to delete it? Of course I could be the seller. ;)
-
Don't worry about deleting it Bob, most people know that the Piatti was a terrible scooter and hardly anyone has any interest in them. A snap shot of history that is best forgotten. Scrap metal value really.
-
50cc but not a moped though, or it would be a pedal Binz. Nice little chap.
Mike Dann used to ride his Piatti from Bristol to Plymouth, down the A38, to see his girl friend, apparently. I assume that was before he bought a Schmitt as he was very much in evidence in early pictures of activities. In those days Schmitting the A38 was probably reasonably fun.

Very Bubbly rear light on the Binz.
Binz: what South African divers get when they surface too fast!
-
I do have a Piatti - it is certainliy more to show then to ride...
Anyone of you guys bought it ?
-
So do you still own this or did you sell it?
I was watching it with interest but the £1800 was just too much.
-
The one on eBay is not mine.
I own this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/19867693@N03/sets/72157603257046758/

Very nice. Thanks for the link. More than £1800???
-
well I paid 700.- for the wreck you see next to the kr175 (btw, the kr175 is offered @ RM in Madison). I guess this is one of maybe a dozen Piattis in running condition.

The restoration was very time consuming, as no part are available. So make sure, the bike is complete not just 99% :-)
For example by the time I restored it, only old original 7-inch tires were available. Due to the fact that these tyres are also use for the Lambretta A Model, and old used tire was around € 500.-

"Piatti -The New British Scooter" was kinda hedging their marketing bets, wasn't it?
Piatti to catch the (then) fashionable who knew that an Italian scooter was the 'real thing', but then mentioning British so you knew it was made by the right side in the recent war?
