Yep bob will be sitting on a deck chair whilst his back wheel is jacked up and, via belt drive , sawing a pile of logs  :) just love those shows

Hahhh! Yes, I have seen a few of those, usually pumping water around in a circle. Battlesbridge is not one of those shows though, usually about 700 to 800 cars with a scattering of microcars mixed in. A decent autojumble too.

Are you at the Spring autojumble Richard?  I have to pick up some barometers from Poole so may plan the trip to include a visit to the jumble, you and Goggo could buy me lunch!

We are definetly at Beaulieu next weekend - love it. Would be good to see you there but mike and I far too busy for any lunch . And before anyone else says it - yes I am an expert on stationary engines I have a Lloyd and several Villiers  ;)

The Petter sandwich slicer/stacker. Now there is a useful stationary engine device. 'You cannot put a Petter bit of butter on your knife'. Or was it wife, cannot remember.

Might I suggest Bob take fresh food into the Autojumble for lunch as the guys will be dribbling for it having avoided expensive grease burgers etc on site for a day or so. Mike makes a mean tea and I am sure Richard has skills to add to the feast.

Barry, I dont know how we switched to Battlesbridge on the numberplate thread so I have swapped back to this one. Gregg only has the one Isetta now, the Bubble window as I understand it. Did I mention that he also brought his PAV trailer in matching colours along to the show which was a great crowd puller.  Did I trailer it ? Come on, Im surprised you had to ask! Its only 20 miles!!  MInd you Greg did for his 38 mile journey but he did say that his engine was not running as well as it could be and that he didnt fancy anything happening on the M25. Thankfully Thumper ran fine. I suppose on the other hand you can forgiven for asking as Isetta owners dont seem to drive them much these days, its become a characteristic of many, something I first observed when we drove to Story Germany and the club all went in there smart cars!

A much better drive along the A127 than the M25.  But did you get wet?


When the sheds are built (mid June) I intend to take the body off of the Isetta and get the chassis, brakes and steering all up to scratch.  I have had someone in mind for this for a long time but they need some space in their garage first..................
I will put the body back-on more or less as it is because the quotes for bodywork & paint seem to be astronomical.  

Then I will have an Isetta that I can drive locally and wont have to worry about breaking down or scratches.

Financially, an Isetta with an MOT that I can use is worth a fair bit but won't hurt my pocket too much.
Restoring the body and painting it will cost me more than the car is worth. (Do it yourself I hear in the background...........three boys taking GCSE's and then A levels over the next two years + 1 starting GCSE's prevents any play-time.)

No, we didnt get wet, rain threatened at about 3pm but didnt come to anything. It started just when I got home at about 4.30 so worked out well.

Yep, Isetta's are very expensive to restore properly.

Should I recognize Barry's Isetta? Number looks familiar as does the colour. No doubt Stuart will tell me as he is slowly assembling a record of all cars seen coming through here I think. Isettas are much more at home doing the busy body bits and bobs about town. Something a Schmitt seems not so keen on doing, prefering that 20 mile run to get warmed right through. I forget that Bob is so close to the M25, so is that the route you took? Some right nutters on that motorway I think I would prefer to avoid it but then if other routes are nutter infested too its better to have the space! It does seem that these local shows are coming back to the fore with costs/time etc coming into consideration. So it pays to do a few and get to know some of the other regulars who are not marque bores but petrol heads interested but driving - well whatever it is they are driving. This is something I need to return to doing round here but with the car under is own power if at all possible.

Mmmm. Sheds.

HI Al. No, I didnt touch the M25, the A127 takes me from Upminster almost all the way to Battlesbridge, its dual carriage way but much more leisurely than a motorway, Battlesbridge is over towards Southend, the M25 goes nowhere near it
I'm doing more and more of these semi-local shows now as it doesnt take up a whole weekend and is much cheaper to do. Its also more interesting than a whole row of the same cars.
