final touches for the Trojan that has to be on the road at the DWAC-event in 4 weeks time. What is a close to original wing mirror on the trojan 200?

No idea on a trojan but mine used to have that lovely little 3 point mounting one off the SAAB 95 /96 nice looking mirror can't recall the make but would if told - if you know what I mean :). By the a DWAC rally is on my bucket list they know how to rally don't they
-
Round ones look nice, but I fitted the 4-sided wedge/rhombus shape to mine as they give a slightly wider field of view. The narrow end is near the stem, then they get wider further out. I have one on each side, and the central one on the door...I want to know in advance whatever stupid thing the %*&@* behind me is about to do!

I believe that on the Trojan Trust website there is a scan of the optional extras. A red ink leaflet. There is the Trojam Mirror on it. A rare thing. It is pretty similar to the early mirrors for Isetta.
Some garages in Britain chose to fit Desmo Boomerangs for customers - like Mini. These are a bit large for idle styling match.
There is an Albert version of mirror that is principle for the Fiat, if memory serves, which looks well. This might be the same as the Saab one mentioned. Not sure if the Italians use it, might be a German alternative fitting. German eBay?
-
I think I might have got mine from a Morris Minor parts supplier.
-
i think it was albert from a SAAB and here it is in SPARROWS lovely book - i know its not for me to say BUT for style German car German period mirror i love it still !
-
Richard, I did not realise that was your lovely car in Sparrow! Yup that mirror is pretty, vaguely similar in shape to mine but more rounded and thus more "bubbly", whilst still giving that slightly bigger view than round mirrors.
-
thank you Marcus , yes mike shepherd and i were out at a national cannot recall which and mike ? sparrow asked us for a photoshoot at a local lunatic asylum ! Mikes Heinkel soft top and my Trojan . a talented photographer slightly wacky and so was his Model - also seen with the Frisky of Mike Webster.
-
I know M's soft top well, another beautiful car! When I was getting close to finishing mine I was not sure where to put the horn as different H-Ts have them in different places, some under the floor, some above the 1/4 bumper, some below. The pics of your car settled the matter for me!
Andrea and David sparrow, have both books!
-
OMG don't use me as reference ! on REFLECTION ;D i think my mirror may have been Frese a make used on earlier VW as well , but perhaps not with that triangular mounting as SAAB
-
sorry i couldn't do the double page spread any better , i thought they were a lovely pair - and the cars looked okay too ;D
-
I could only see an inventory list of on the Trojan site but I did find a picture on this page.

I don't know if it helps much!
Looking through some older photos of Trojans, many don't have wing mirrors at all, but the ones that do look most like these two

-
Yup, that's the style I have on mine.
-
Yep but the Trojan one is not wing mounted its in the more rigid plate by the 1/4 light , isn't it ?
-
Looks like it. Mine are on the wings. I am not too bothered with "originality" everywhere, and I suspect various mirrors were fitted during H-T's production life, and possibly by some first owners after for a time driving without mirrors!
-
That is the image I was thinking of and there is the correct mirror. It is very similar to early Isetta, Zundapp too I think. The head has a strange pimple on it though. None the less it is light, delicate of design and indeed mounts in a place where it will not leak water through a ruddy great hole. Being so sensible no one really copies it but goes for the big hole option. Hey ho!
The interior mirror was a farce. I can understand why folk do not use them.
-
I like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Wing-Mirror-Springback-Wing-Mirror-Convex-Glass-/290473237436
Has an arm with an angle though. I have the hole in the body for the mirror under 1/4 light. Mirror on image has a straight arm. Might that cause a problem?
-
If you have a hole not in the wing this will not work
-
I'll have a go on this one: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&&item=121143751224

Looking good from here

Nice Aussenspiegel Spiegel!

Desmo Boomerang replica is still available. Has rounder lense more in keeping with the rounder lines of the Treinkel. I think they are £45 from the outfit in London, Edge Hill, or whatever their name is. So an eBay less than that is of interest. It is about the biggest hole in a wing though! Some of these look a likes have none spring mounting. Great if they are in an area unlikely to get knocked. Not convinced a wing mount on a Trojan is that position. Would it get bent? As soon as you have the spring mount you have a large hole. I would hold off and see what else is available, though I guess you need something to be legal on the road, bringing the pressure on for a choice.

Is this an original one on a Trojan?
