Sorry, this is VERY off topic but my duo's video is scheduled to be shown on TV tonight between 7.30 and 8pm on Freeview 8, London Live.
We are called Tinkerbell and Plato and the video is our version of a Kentuckian-Hillbilly Blues called "I wish I was a single girl again". We added drums, Swiss Yodels and Mongolian "Baaas" and it should bring a smile or two!
-
Watch what you say I live just north of Kentucky, :o is it going to be on the internet?
-
Yes, we are being a bit cheeky, but the song IS Kentucky hillbilly and we love it, so we added our frills and it is as daft as something really quite daft!
I don't know if the actual TV booadcast will be on the internet, but the video is here:

you are absolutely BAAARKING mad Marcus ;D ;D enjoyed it but watching that has confirmed my wifes worst fears , and mine :) , about the people on my forum :D :D :D we cant get the channel in t'North so went to youtube - still laughing
-
Cheers Squire, "bonkers in the nut" seems about right! Actually most of our songs are pretty normal but we do like to be daft occasionally. The first few times we tried it I almost fell off the drum stool laughing. However, we still like to play it as well as possible and it does seem to get peoples' toes tapping.

Sitting on the patio with a beer watching your vide, what could be better!
-
Oooo, beer....NOM! I used to like Shiner Bock when I was working in Texas, it was still a fairly small local company then, but from its presence in movies and TV it has obviously grown and spread.

London Live is also on Sky 117 Virgin 159 and YouView 8

Well they didn't show it! They sent me an email a couple of hours ago saying it would be then, but instead they showed a video of a girl singer with a keyboard player. Perhaps tomorrow night?! Sorry if I wasted anyone's time, but TV Land does change things sometimes!
-
Just watched the video Marcus, am I to assuming alcohol is key to understanding and enjoying this? ;D There is hope for us yet!
By the way which one is Tinkerbell and who's Plato? Your pal looks like Richard Thompson of X Fairport.
-
Cheers Bob, yup it IS a bit daft and possibly much improved by alcohol!
I am Plato, Tinkerbell came up with the name after mis-hearing someone talking about making a toy Tinkerbell out of Playdo. Without the beret he does not look like Thompson, but with it he's virtually a dead ringer! I am a huge fan of Richard Thompson and met him briefly at Guilfest. Rumour and Sigh is a fantastic CD and I have seen him live 3 times at Guilfest. He is probably my favourite guitarist. His live set for the old BBC Wood Lane Studios closing down ceremony was superb.
-
You are an excellent drummer Plato, wasted on Tinkerbell ;D Cant we persuade you to join the Isetta's?
I'm afraid I lost track of Thompson after he left Fairport, in fact I lost interest in Fairport after Sandy Denny left. For me it all ended with Liege and Lief.
Have you heard the current line up, its a sham! Should have died a dignified death years ago.
-
Cheers Bob, it's hard enough finding enough time just for two of us to be free together, a more regular band might be too much!
Agree 100% about Fairport! Every time I hear these modern female singers, they all seem to be doing the most elaborate vocal gymnastics possible, and sod the tune! Denny had such a good tone and sang the tune. She COULD do all the tricks but had the good taste to use them very sparsely. She was a MUSICIAN, not a Chantoosie!
RT left and teamed up with Linda T and I did not like their stuff at all, and then they split and he just blossomed. Rumour and Sigh has some fairly rocky/punchy stuff and is my favourite.

I have just received an email from London Live TV and it has been re-listed for screening tonight 7-8 pm (probably closer to 8 pm). Let's see if it happens this time!
-
Oh well, not tonight either!
-
Modern singing style you describe is that irritating warbling. Alleged to show skill, but like wealth, it is no arbiter of taste! X factor etc does not help. So many singers become lost when they loose their skilled band, thinking going it alone is the thing. A good band is more than the sum of the members.
