Title: Hidden i.d on ebay ?
Post by: richard on February 11, 2015, 12:52:46 PM
had too laugh , is it the elephant man ? i was looking at Notek spotlights on ebay recently - this is still on - but on inspecting the condition i focussed in and found the oddest thing . The vendor/photographer was viewing through a cardboard box , so he couldnt be identified in the reflection ? I just wonder why ? And I thought I was odd !  ;D

S/he might indeed be trying to hide his/her identity, but it is a regular trick of photographers to prevent conflicting reflections. With polished surfaces often the whole item is put into a white translucent fabric "tent" and lights placed outside the tent, photo shot through a small hole or slit. This could just be a DIY attempt to get a more "professional" look!

.... The vendor/photographer was viewing through a cardboard box ....

That is not a "box", they are using an iPad to take the picture.  It is large enough that it just happens to cover their face while taking the pic.

Also-you can clearly see another person's upper torso and head reflected in the left side of the bottom picture as well so if they were trying to stay "hidden" they did a poor job of it.

well OK, I will try and liven things back up again then.

My first impression of the images was that they were going to be part of a group of "exhibitionist" reflection images that are apparently popular amongst a number of eBay users.
Here is a short article about the phenomenon (which has been going on for many years):

Article has pics but naughty bits are blacked out.  ::)
