Nice picture. Mind the early german number plate. This photo was taken in Munich in the year 1955-1956
The store does still exist. Probably not this lovely Isetta.

A few years back there was a model Isetta Fire Engine in the shops, was this based on a real one?

Hi

I am sure I have seen a picture of the fire truck, perhaps on one of the Story DVD's

Accordind to www.microcarmuseum.com

"1957 Isettacarro
Renzo Rivolta's little Iso Isetta, immediately attracted attention, and licenses were granted to build them in several countries. Two models were offered - the little egg-shaped Turismo with narrow 50cm rear track, and the Type Autocarro, a commercial version with full-width rear axle.

The Autocarro was offered in several body styles, a flatbed pickup, enclosed truck (Furgone Commerciale), a tilt-bed, or even a fire engine!"

Could this have been the base?

Not a genuine one! Replica was built by Ralf H. from cologne area. Good work anyway.

Was it only Isettas that were predominantly used as comercial vehicles? I like the Deutsches Bundespost version on pg.114 of Jan de lange's Microcars Stories. I suppose Goggomobils played a part as well.
