The Drum car vids on you tube are titled The Drumcar 1 and The drumcar 2. Bob Dobie and Alan Hitchcock both think the "Busker" drums sound similar to a Villiers engine !

Well said, John, a fantastic day out with glorious weather and some superb machinery.  Jean & Co did a great job once again.

Nice to put faces to names we see on the Forum and to get a close-up of the restorations that we've been following.

The driving competition results were:

1.  Hillary Kilbourn   78 points                            Cup
2.  Ken Kimber       75 points                            Digital caliper
3.  Cess                75 points (but longer time)   Travel alarm clock
4.  Jim Lugsden     74 points                             Model microcar

It was a closely-fought battle with all competitors bar the Fabulous Stuart using Jim's Reliant Fox
pick-up with the driver's door removed to make retrieval of the targets easier.  The jury's still
out on the legality of this modification but as all competitors had the same advantage we'll let
that one go!  Only Jim was present for the prize-giving at the end of the day so I'll make arrangements
to get the prizes in the post if the winners email me their postal addresses: nick_devonport@hotmail.com
will find me.

Thanks once again to all who made the day so enjoyable.

Regards
Nick D.

So just out of curiosity, what position did I & the Comtesse come in at, at the end of the day?

The disappiontment of the day for me was the huge amount of my time taken up by the car mag photographer, I felt robbed of an afternoons microchat with the boys.

Oh the price of fame!

Having already seen the Inter in action at Bath, I'd have to say rokraiders Eccles and Marcus's Drumcar did it for me on the day. Though I finally meet Mike Ayriss and put a few more names to faces. Just wish I'd taken a photo of John as he passed by in Stuarts Mini Comtesse, ;D roll on next year.

"Oh the price of fame!?"  I know! Now I can sympathise with Lady Di !  Do I detect a note of jealous Mr Blob, you know what you have to do, spend six years or so restoring one of your Friskies and they will be lining up to photograph YOUR car! :-* :-* How long now have they been sitting dismantled in your garage? Too long!!

Had to get some insulating tape to hold the number plate on the trailer (the heat melted the glue on the Velcro that I had used) and refuel the Jeep before risking getting caught in a traffic jam on the M25 etc. Jeep returned 17MPG which is quite satisfactory towing the bike trailer with the Eccles on it. Noticed a lot of people pointing at the Inter as they passed it, a couple were snapping photos as they went by you. Definitely heading for stardom! 8)

Hi Stuart

You are the hero propping up everyone else - someone had to do it, didn't they?
Your score was 46 points, not the slowest time but you only collected 4 targets.

It was good to see the Mini Comtesse at the Open Day, thanks for letting us drive
it.  Hope you manage to sort out the braking system for the MoT.

Regards

BOB ....change of subject...

I looked at the microscope I told you about at the Open Day. "Cary" is engraved on the stem in script, and " London" in capitals. On the lid of the box there is a carved-in "C" monogram. You know your stuff !!

Hi Marcus. I told you from your desription that it was a Cary "type" and was worth a few bob, now you tell me its actually a signed Cary, its worth more than a few bob! About knowing my stuff, we all have our specialist subjects, for instance you play the drums a whole lot better than I do as we found out on sunday! I would like to see a picture of the botanical microscope some time. Cheers, Bob
