They planned to built it a couple of years ago. Now, as the petrol prizes are rizing badly, i guess they'll thinking about it again.
Its a good looking car anyway, isn't it?

It is a good looking car but will people buy it at 20/30,000 euros?

It was just one of those "look at what we can do" exercises that exists to raise the comany's profile and test the puplic's opinion.  I bet there was never any serious intent to produce them in numbers.

The quoted 660 lbs / 300kg is heavier than my car will (hopefully) be and I'm not using carbon fibre anywhere.  I won't have ABS or airbags though.

Mind you, that number plate might be putting a few folk off. "WOB - L- 1".  Play it around a bit & it becomes "Wobbly - 1".....   ;D

I agree that production is very unlikely - VW made a lot of fuss a year ago about producing a three-wheeler for the US market, only to let that die a death after they had got all the free publicity.

But the 1L is certainly interesting and shows what can be achieved with a very big development budget.  It is definitely a rolling test-bed - apparently there's no soundproofing (too much weight) and so the sound rattles around inside the very rigid carbon bodyshell so that ear plugs are essential.  The VW chairman drove it 50-100 miles to an AGM and apparently he was rattling by the time he got to his destination.

Looks like someone couldn't be bothered to wait for VW's concept car

Very nice, but I prefer the bobbed VW campers, especially the ones with split windscreens
