I hope you all of you that attended had a good time,,,,, 45 micros, 9 Schmitts just pipping 8 Isetta's in the most prevalent category..... a 70 mile road run with only 3 cars left on site and that was because they had bought more than one micro to the event, Great set by the band on saturday evening ,and only a little rain.
RUM car supporter Steve Baylis won a trophy for his Berkeley and for the first time i can remember Bob Purton didn't win anything ( i even started to mention his Schmitt before i was politely told that it was a different Schmitt that won!)
Other highlights were a brace of recently restored Scootacars that i'd never seen before and a nice Isetta all driven to the site by enthusiasts in their twenties ,,,, there is a future for our hobby.. and a large motorcycle club drawing up on the sunday afternoon on the way home from their rally,,,,and enjoying our event much more than their own!
Went to pay the site fee's on the Monday morning and they'd added vat to the quote!    had to battle through to remind them that the price quoted was the price we pay as per the past three years...

Hi Dave, many thanks to yourself and Martin for organising another great Stonham rally and for booking good weather! I really enjoyed it, it will always be a favorite with me even though Steve Baylis fixed the judging  :D :D :D I thought including the moped display was a good idea and added a little flavour to the event. Long may it continue.

Yes , the old mopeds did attract a bit of interest, the tandem cyclemaster barn find with a '59 tax disc especially interesting .
The mopeds have allways been invited ,from the early Hengrave rallies ,its just this year they made a road run and a display for us and many more turned up.
Ref the judging ( possibly why you didn't win again)   We gave the judging sheet to a lady who wasn't deeply microcar orientated (she did have guidance for metal versus plastic ) to give a judging view from a different perspective, ,,,I'll get a nice new trophy ready for you in 2 years time!

Oh, Don't worry about me Dave, the old girl has had her share and as the restoration is nine years old now its bound to be outshone by younger restorations. As a matter of fact I met the young girl 'judge' whilst she was asking for some basic guidance and remember thinking 'this is going to be interesting!' . She asked us "is an NSU prinz a microcar to which we replied yes because it has a 600cc engine after which she promptly awarded  a 1.3 litre Metro powered kit Berkeley! Steve was not complaining though! Still, it was fun and took the seriousness out of the whole thing. The tandem with motor was great and I guess allows the luxury of both riders being able to put there feet up on the handlebars whilst the motor takes the strain!

Yes,
I suppose we are not taking it tooo seriously.....  ( major single make clubs do this bit for us ) ,, we did have a Ford pop in the line up of cars on the sunday morning for a little while until the driver realised that he'd come to the classic car rally two weeks early!
