Retromobile 2009
« on: February 09, 2009, 01:14:58 PM »
Just returned from an exhausting trip to Paris braving snow storms and what have you! Well worth the effort though!
1941 Peogeot electric car,

Everest double glazing display,What, no girlies ?

Hears one, Oh sorry its not, its Mike Plant with his teenage good looks making this microcar look very big! Its a Citroen.

Fabulous Amilcar, my favorite!

A one off aluminium hybred microcar.

We thought Chris Thomas would like this Citroen concept electric car, again very small but the pic make it look huge!

1899 electric Torpedo, this one was features albiet stylised on the Retromobile poster.

The much talked about Bugatti, sold at the Bonhams sale at the show. How much do you think this sold for?

A great time was had by all. Many thanks to Mike Shep for doing all the driving and for Mike Plant for doing all the talking! I did all the eating!!

Dear Members of tha Metro Mob

Thanks for the pictures. I am interested in the One off Aluminium Hybrid car. It looks as if the dashboard including the speedo is located behind the driver. Could you see why?

Sorry that should have bee the Retro Mob, or Mr Perton could have changed his name to Retro Rob, Or it could have been Retro Blob in all the pictures.

Take your choice

Yes I too like the look of the bare metal/clear roof car. I have seen the torpedo one in a book..Jamais Contente? Electric LSR setter. Is the Bugatti the recent garage find?  Like the Citella and the blue one, I think it is a Delage or Delahaye, very nice, I'll have 2 of each!

Hi Chris. No matter whether we are the metro or retro mob the important thing to remember is that Purton is spelt with a U and not an E. I'm from a long line of Purtons going back to the Norman conquest when the aristocrat Ranolph de Purton came across on eurostar to join in the scrap!

About the hybrid car, there is a 1950's looking instrument panel forward facing which is the original but it looks like someone added the rear facing dash board much later. My guess is that it started out as just a petrol car and that the sparks element was added later, I could be wrong. Mike Plant was besotted with it so he may know more, then again his grasp of the French language was scanty, unlike mine [mange toute, mange toute!!]  he may have photographed the car description.

Marcus, you are probably right about the blue car, it doesn't look like an Amalcar does it although they are always this colour, it was on there stand though so I jumped too this conclusion.

Dear Retro Rob

I do apologise for having dyslexic fingers when I type.

There is nothing worse that somebody taking the U out of your name, apart from the *iss.

I hope Retro Blob has more information on the hybrid car.

Many thanks

Chris Thomas (without a U)

Thats allright Chris, I would rather someone take the U than take the P anyday. We all thought you would be asking questions about the Citroen concept job rather than the hybrid, just goes to show, you think you know someone!

The Citroen cheese wedge seems to have headlight pivoting with front wheel, as used on DSPallas. The electric Peugeot is lovely. KR201 looks pretty good there, and so it should for what it went for!

I only photographed a small section of the info that went with the aluminum hybrid, just to keep a record of who made it. Yes the yellow Citroen was my favorite, I loved it's pivoting headlight.

I quite liked that, I've got another pic somewhere. This EV reminded me of a larger version of a Fiat 126 (similar shape), unfortunately the two philistines with me didn't agree.

It has RK on the badge though I don't know what it is.
