King Midget on THE PRICE IS RIGHT

There were several Microcars that appeared on this show over time.
This is the first time I have seen the King Midget.
It gets a rather mixed reception, I wonder if the winner got to drive it for 65,000 miles to use all the gasoline that came with it?

Probably immolated himself at the embarrassment. I don't know why I said that as I have never had one.

Great! When I first read your post, Jim, I assumed that it was on the modern show, and I thought how odd to give away no just a classic, but such an unusual one

Yep, Alan Evans missed that marketing oppertunity with the Bamby, Root. Leslie Crowther would have bigged it up well on our version which was currant at the time. Slightly better than a picture advertising the car as a hunchback disguise that you can drive. That only attracts weirdos, glad you found one after all these years though!

As I recall the Bamby along with the Cursor were pushed at sixteen year old as moped alternatives, trouble was that young people of the eighties were not the same as ones from the sixtys when bubblecars were cool for young people. Thus, eighties teeneagers would not touch one with a long stick, too busy playing that ghastly techno music!
