Pyrenees Rally
« on: November 25, 2010, 08:55:02 PM »
Hi Everyone,

As usual, my parents will try and do another Pyrenees rally, but only if it gets enough interest. The past rallies have been really fun, we have had extremely rare cars ( both known felbers and a libelle ). If you want to know more, here is the site:

NIce pics Jonathan. I can see why the bigger kit type three wheelers go on it, I dont think my Inter or Thumper would like those hills much! Is this the event that drives on to the Spanish rally? How many miles is that?

Hi Bob,

We have always onnected it to the spanish rally ( for whoever wants to ) but I am not sure about this rally. I don't know what you mean by " how many miles " but i guess you mean from our rally to manresa? If so, google maps says this:

Time: 4 hours 23 minutes ( add more for the small engines ;) )
Distance: 278 KM

You can make it in an inter, but I don't know what a thumper is. An isetta has done it, and a schmitt.

So I take it that its just a Pyranees rally then, do you have dates yet?  Sorry to confuse you but Thumper is just a pet name for my Isetta.

Dear Jean

Within an hour of Johnathan posting the item I had written and set it in the magazine.

No hanging about at Micro Towers.

Hi Bob,

No fixed dates yet, depends on interest. Once enough people/cars my mum will book the venue and publish the dates.

No hanging about at Micro Towers.

Micro Towers, the only towers that you can build within permitted development in your rear garden being under 4 meters high! Also available Mini Mosques, free glass with every second order. We'll be round in the Regal, soon as,  to lay the footings. Also funeral directors, stiffs a speciality. Slater Nazi. (Apologies MPFC)

Pyrenees Rally - since it is an enthusiast organised event I get the impression it evolves to match the performance of those working vehicles that attend so while the mix might be Lomax to Avolette the idea is to have fun in the sun. The crucial element is to arrive with something that works as Nick is not looking to provide running restoration support. Talking to peeps that have been it seems to rather hark back to the older way of mucking about with cars, a good trough into the bargain followed by  some shandys or a sherbet rather than standing about in a field hoping someone is going to be impressed by your weird car. The French are not really into classic cars as such and most could not give a baguette if it is a mega rare Dundridge Willywhomper worth thousands. They are going to think you are very silly and/or have too much money. Why would you not want the ubiquitous small white van? Get Thumper over there!
Messerschmitt set, Goggo Darts, Heinkel 175, Fiat Jolly, Autobianchi, Fairthorpe Electron Minor, Borgward, Isuzu Trooper
Citroen BX 17TZD & GTI 16v
Held - MG Magnette ZB & 4/44
For sale - Vellam Isetta, Bamby, AC Type 70, Velorex, Church Pod, Reliant Mk5, KR200,  Saab 96, Bellemy Trials, Citroen BXs

Dundridge Willywhomper , I'm restoring one of those at the moment! Its the left handed whimwham model with mushy nibblet synchromesh. Vary vary rare!
