Microcar spotted in Barcelona!
« on: April 15, 2011, 12:08:58 PM »
Hello,

I just got back from my school trip (Barcelona), had a great time, like going on the biggest roller coaster in Europe (Which also has the most loops in Europe!), went to a market place, and then I suddenly saw a load of yellow 3 wheelers driving! It's called a "Go Car".
I quickly snapped a pic, but my camera is *very* rubbish, since its on my phone, it takes about 3 seconds to "snap" the pic! (No, I cant change the shutter speed).
Here is the pic I took:
Cars: Messerschmitt KR200, Nobel 200

- Other mopeds: Malaguti Superquattro, Solex 2200, Puch Monza, Puch Maxi

I read a UK newspaper article about them about 3-4 years ago. You can hire them by the hour for driving around the city and they have talking guides to tell you about interesting places.
Great idea, and glad to see them still going.

Surely a microcar in Barcelona ought to be called a Barceley not after a make of cat food that changed its name? Still these look like domestic Go Cars, you have to watch out for the ferrial ones that can turn up anywhere and be quite nasty when approached.

All right, I will go away now. But not until I say good spot, Sir.

Dear Jonathan

The little yellow three wheelers are Triggers, made in Holland. They have a scooter engine and all the controls are from the same scooter.

I discovered one up near Worksop many years ago and arranged to do a test drive in it, but when I got there I was only able to get my right leg and my deriere in, but not my left leg. So I had to abandon the road test. Like all open top vehicles, ideal in hot dry climates, but here in the UK you get a wet bum every time it rains.

I am told they are great fun to drive, if you can get in.

After my previous comment it gets more rediculious but true! Three wheeled Tigger.....

Not unlike the Church Pod concept, great minds.......

The Pod project is looking to go live again this year as I have secured the prototype and that means I can work up my car and attempt to resolve several problems that were found. With a bit of luck a third car will get done and the prototype reshelled. It is possible that the owner of the fourth car might join in the project as well. The fifth car, who knows as it was never supplied with a full chassis. Two at least are going to be based on Honda Foresight 250. One might be a Burgman base. Unlike the Trigger these have space for the ample legged and can be waterproof if you wish to have doors.
