Hi Bubblenuts,

Is yours LHD, or RHD? They made left AND right in the UK.

I dont have any spare, but I was thinking of maybe making fibreglass ones, but it depends of the actuall interest, I know of someone else who wants one, but his car is LHD, and I can only make RHD ones. I know its not much work to convert as long as you have the dash, but that is usually the problem.

I have to repair my dash before anything happens though!

Have you seen my website? http://www.Nobel200.com/

Are you interested in a FibreGlass dash?

I was thinking of maybe wood but i guess if the price was right and it was available would save a lot of hassle.

Glass fibre is the better option as the originals were pressed out using a former, you'd not have the raised areas where the switches and such are mounted if making a wooden replacement.

You could create a raised area in wood if you wanted to, there are ways and means young Planty. Hang on though, doesnt the steel dashboard form part of the structure of the shell? Is strength a consideration? If so the fiber glass one could be reinforced with some steel work behind.

Wood can be just as strong as metal in some applications.  :)

True, ash frames, Bleriots monoplane etc but I was referring to fibreglass which can also be very strong but not a flat sheet of it. The dash board may not be structural at all, it was just a thought.

Here are some pictures. It is rusty, and needs a small panel welded in (glovebox, has a giant hole in it!).

I like the idea of a fibreglass dash, but of course with the meta panel behind it to support it, like the original ones.

I have the flat metal bit from the back that bonds to the fiberglass and the glovebox box i just need to re fabricate the facia. I might even go for metal and embossed just like the original as a mate thinks he can do it at his work, tho would take a bit of work and a few attempts to create the former.  I've seen several pics of nobels/variants with flat dashboards and they look fine in anycase but was thinking if nobody has one readily available from an old car then wooden would be the easier option and i would be crafting the embossed bits from wood too. I dont think the cars strength would be compromised at all. The dash isn't really a structural component of the Nobel and as someone has already pointed out wood is strong.
