« on: July 31, 2011, 11:04:00 AM »
Hello,

Came across another weird photo... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=110719764121

Seems to be a 4 wheeler trident and a fat P50!

Anyone got any information?

Hi Jonathon,
The original photo must have been taken in 1966 when Automobile Engineer magazine did a comparison test of four electric cars. A Telearchs Ltd. Mini Traveller Conversion, a AEI Mini Traveller Conversion, A Scottish Aviation Ltd. Scamp and the Peel Trident Electric Saloon Scooter.
Yes, the 4-wheeled Trident that nobody seems to know where it is. The 'fat P50' is in fact the Scamp. I have a four page photocopy from the magazine showin details of the vehicles.
Rob.

I notice in line with Peel prices not being effected by the introduction of the Bamby P50 and the follow up Trident there seem to be a lot of unfinished 'Peel' projects suddenly available. No doubt it is pure coincidence this should happen just as an economical road legal option appears solving build and registration problems in one easy purchase. Owners of the Traditional or Classic Peels, as we probably have to call them now, might find this amusing. We will see.

I like the 4 wheel Trident. Now there is a replica worth making. Electric powered with no room for batteries so instead towing a trailer with a 4 cylinder Gardiner desiel generator on it running red. Mmm, Gardiner.....

Can I buy a cyclemotor powered kettle? Ideal for camping with your tandem. Actually I have East German army petrol cooker, brilliant. Unfortunately Petrol is a very fine fuel which is hard to replace. A bit like sugar, a handy power packed source of energy easy to use. Electricity just does not like being stored.
