Isnt that the same or very much like the one used on a BSA Bantam D1?

Its the same but completely different. The differences are-- 2 fixing holes through body, no tail on the knob and lots of staight pins on the back. There must be one in someones toolbox.

Some D1 bantams had the symetrical knob with tubular pins to the rear, for accuracy you could paint or remold the knob white, I've been searching for a genuine white knob for years but to no prevail. These switches (black knob) turn up quite frequently on eBay or Beaulieu for around £20.

Its Jammy to be chuffed?
Translation please to American English if possible.

p.s While were on the subject- anybody have a Nobel headlamp switch?  I rebuilt mine, but the headlamps tend to flicker or dim when I go over bumps unless I regularly push/pull the switch shaft out to a slightly different lengths to keep its contacts in their sweet spot.

Sounds like you don't have the correct switch, it's supposed to be a simple Lucas on/off flick switch.

Jammy is lucky or fortunate. To have a crust is good , to have jam on it is a bonus! [I think in the rebel colonies you call jam jello] Chuffed is feeling quite pleased with ones self.

No, Jello is English Jelly, and Yankee Jelly is Jam.  But then one or the other Jam/jelly in American has seeds, the other not.  Which is which is too confusing.

not really my province jonathan but that ad says it's a flasher/horn switch i.e. immediate return switch therefore not suitable for turning lights on - only for flashing them unless its spring is playing up.

there are plenty of new 2 and 3 position lucas toggle switches on ebay though
