SOS Tony and Lynne need Help
« on: May 09, 2012, 06:48:13 PM »
Dear All,

Tony has sold his house, and embarked on his move to France and all sorts of disasters have befallen him!!  First whilst loading his first van load he fell and broke his arm and several ribs. In spite of this he made one trip to France but the lorry broke down on the return journey.   I have now had this email from him:

We are still in England, but without a house.  In fact we are "camping out" on a day to day basis at a Travel Lodge in MK.  So far just about everything has gone wrong.  You already know about my broken arm and ribs.  Very painful but Ibuprofen helps.  The first load went off to France and is in a house we are renting for two months..  Coming home in the lorry the clutch started to slip.  We got home but there is no way it will do another journey with a heavy load.  We've been waiting since Friday to hear from a man who can repair the lorry but nothing yet.  And most of our home is in the lorry;  clothes, household stuff, even the charger for the mobile phone and the leads for the lap top, and my reading glasses!  .  We have cleared most of our stuff from Church Street, but there are still some major problems.  Biggest of all are the cars stored there.  Isetta, Scootacar, Frisky, Petite, some scooter parts, bicycles and odd bits and pieces from the cinema - plus the cinema projector!  There is a real dilemma with the cars.  The nice lady who lives at Church Street now wants the whole lot cleared (not surprisingly) and has issued an ultimatum for the end of the month.  I don't want the cars scrapped but can't move them in that time.  PLUS Lynne and I have to be in France on 21 & 22 May for the official handing over of our keys.
It won't be the end of the world if we lose the cars, but it would be a shame.
We have bought new bits for the mobile (07976 483172) and this laptop.

Do any of you know someone who could house one of these cars temporarily for him?

Do any of you know a man with a large van or lorry who could help with the removal?

Or if any one has any ideas how we can help, suggestions would be welcome.  If you can help in any way it would probably be best to make contact direct with Tony on his new mobile number above. Or you
can of course contract me on 01580 891377   Jean

Bad timing. I am beginning the run up to leaving Faringdon as it looks like I am to be bought out of the Estate property. So not really room for long term cars at 'home' though a room for inside stuff might be created. I still have undercover storage but 330 miles in the wrong direction for France! Once I have done my tasks with my van and got a car going next week that will be freed up. The van and trailer can shift two cars, at least, a trip to where ever. Sounds like the cars and scoots are two loads in this format.

Terrible news and very sad to hear about all the injuries and problems, it must be a living nightmare. I wish I could do something to help but I don't think there is anything I can do except hope all goes well from now on and you soon recover from your injuries.

I am sure the guys will be OK with another micro in our shared lock-up in Oxfordshire, or even some large boxes. I am sorry there isn't enough space for all the cars. Sorry also to hear of your predicament, we may be close enough to MK. Just let me know through the personal messages. Happy to help, if possible.

Thank you on Tony's behalf to all of you who have sent messages and offers of help.  Tony very rarely looks at the Forum so I have been passing them on to him.  If any of you have further offers please make contact with him direct on tonyrumcars@aol.com or phone him on 07976 483172.   Thank you so much for your response he is still in great need of any help we can offer, transport, storage, physical help in moving things or just a few kind words of encouragement.   Jean

Hi Jean, Just had a long talk with Tony and Lynne offering space for two of his cars and loads of other bits and pieces subject to some kind person bringing them down to Polegate. This to be sorted out. I left him full of the joys of spring, "making his day", he said. He was laughing so much.  All items can be left here indefinately until he want to collect. Rob.
Ain't got nuffink now except memories.

Now that is in the right direction! So an option is to use my van to shift a load down there. With half gone the problem should look three quarters done! Even better if on the return some stuff could be collected from Horsham. No not Microcars but Trojans and non stationary stationary engine thingies! I fear all the rain might scupper that idea though. Another alternative would be to collect a Piper and a Kart. I have no idea why I have a van when everyone else uses it!!!

I also spoke with Tony last night. I'm delivering a restored KR200 to near Milton Keynes next wednesday and coming back past Limogue with an empty trailer, how handy is that !             Nick.

Here is the latest message from Tony:

Hello everybody, What an unbelievably super lot of people you all are.  Just a few short hours after Jean put her piece on the forum and offers of help have flooded in.  It's looking good.  The super response has brought Lynne to tears.  I am hoping to get a load of non microcar stuff moved from the house to temporary accommodation this weekend with the help of friends Kim and her son James Lloyd, if they agree to my plan to hire a tail lift van (there's some heavy stuff including the washing machine) for Kim to drive.  And in with all this I am now grounded as the car has developed a fault (ignition won't switch off!) and I am having to stay close to the mobile and wait for a call from the garage.  The lorry is being collected today (Friday) or Monday and should have it's clutch put right soon - which will come back first, the car or the lorry???????

There's lots happening and I will update you as things develop.

Tony
