Velam Spotted!
« on: September 22, 2012, 05:51:09 PM »
Hey all,

Today, we went to a car meeting near us, in the Bentley. Many nice cars turned up, like an 8 cylinder vintage Bugatti, Rosengart SuperTraction, Panhard 24b and Dyna Junior, many more, but most suprisingly, a Velam Isetta popped up... We didn't even know the owner! (my dad has seen one at another car meeting before, could be the same one). I took a picture of it surrounded by normal cars, to make a "spot the velam" picture, but the car is so small, I didnt realise unrtil after, you couldnt see it in the picture!

Anyway, here are the good pics!

The owner apparently bought it in 1957!

Nice, Velam and Ecrin were the best looking versions of Isetta. There is an old French film of the 60s with a great shot towards the end, of a white Velam driving through a crowd of people in a town.

I love the Ecrin, on of my favorites. I agree with you Marcus, but apparently the engines arent the best!

This one is lovely too:

The owner has our phone number, (we only spoke to his wife, who drives the Velam!), and he wiull probably pop over to see us, I'm sure he'll love our Isetta and other micros!

You might be thinking of FUNNY FACE with Fred Astaire.
I ripped that section from the movie and posted it to YouTube, but it got yanked.

Trying to think if Funny Face sounds familiar or not, think it does but I did not see it all and don't recall seeing Astaire. I think it might have been B&W.
