one million miles by road ?
« on: November 30, 2012, 03:22:13 PM »
at home this afternoon receiving delivery of my new company car . i started life as a " travelling salesman " very nearly 34 years ago , i have never had a company car more than 2 years , including changes of company i must have therefore had 17 cars plus - none at all exciting - Cortina mk III's and IV's,Cavaliers, Montego, Sierra , Mondeo,Octavia ,Focus, Golf , Megane etc. all fantastic at what they were made for and now the latest Audi A3 . i am sure i have never ,these 2 years with each car, clocked up less than 70,000 miles . last one was 86,000 - this one 76,000 . this on Britains congested road system . i reckon have nearly travelled as far as to the moon and back TWICE - blimey how much damage have i done to the earth ? and my back !

the audi 3 is the smallest car they make, and the smallest company car i have ever had  i think it's useless to us salesmen and the boots pathetic it's also 3 door . first 3 door i have ever had and to us that carry stock samples and even luggage on the backseat far from ideal . having only sat in the car to reach the drivers safety belt will injure me . diesel like all my recent cars. we are furious to be offerred it actually ! but i mustn't rant  :) the blackberry is so they can hassle me constantly whilst on the move .

I reckon I must have driven about 1/2 million miles, and 200,000 of that was in my old VW van, which was already old and high mileage when I bought it! My plane and ship mileage is pretty high too.

I never pedal mopeds Richard. You only have to do that if you have a rubbish one or you are over weight. Always carry some tooth paste, antiperspirant and a pregnancy test kit in the tool box though, you never know when they may come in handy! ;D

Always carry some tooth paste, antiperspirant and a pregnancy test kit in the tool box though, you never know when they may come in handy! ;D

Toothpaste to clean the chrome, antiperspirant to stop a dripping exhaust and preg test to determine why your tyres are blown out.
