as margaret said " never 'ad so much fun since the May Blitz " a common scouse phrase - the May Blitz of 1941 when the Luftwaffe caused so much devastation on Merseyside . Supposedly as the lights went out much FUN  was had in the air raid shelters . i think it's called black humour
