270x90 tires - any interest or need?
« on: March 19, 2013, 03:31:52 PM »
does anyone have a need for new 270x90 tires?
These sort of fit Velam Isettas (11" wheels) but they are too thin, they do fit a variety of other French microcars.
It is my understanding that the tires are unavailable through any source?

There is a possibility that someone may make a run of them, depending on demand.
Price is unknown at this time.

so they are available already if someone wants them?
I had been led to believe they were unavailable.  Perhaps I am thinking of another size tire....

270x90 were original Michelin molding .
then in 1990 ( about) they stopped production of that few using size, and legend said that Bruce W bought all the 270 from Michelin ....
then chambrier made molds  ( in india ) of that size in 2007. .
yes , it's avialable for rolux, solyto, atlas, .. aGf, scootavia,  scooters ..
for velam isetta, original size was 440x11  that size is over since ... 1960 may be ...
the only possibility is getting 270x90 , that are 10.7584215893 " rim  ^^ and gets with a few muscles on 11" isetta velam  rim .. of course they are thinner, but the only one to be on 11" wheels rim .. with original sculpture look .
" most beautyfull girl in the world has unfortunately only two legs !! "
i found some years  ago ( 1998 ) 11" tyres  from piaggio scooters ( 180cc from italy .. ) with quite a vintage design ,and good  rubber( michelin or pirelli , have to look )
those one are waiting for my velam , and some others have been mounted on my scootavia , and solyto , with ducktape to get rim closer to 11" and good center of the  tyre.
i asked my friend , michelin adventure museum director, to mold new 270x90 .. the answer was , if michelin would have been molding new tyres, will be first, founding vintage original molds ... sent in foreign factories, ou thrown away ... then the tyres would have to be tested and tested , for them , when they will be for sale, be THE michelin tyres ,with all garanties from factory ... that 's why we"ll never  see again those small procution tyres  in shops ...
