I have singed one belting down the autobahns. Wiff bot major.
Eventually you get an area that cracks up and the tyre cannot really be trusted. If you keep changing wheels, tyres etc then not a great prob but back in the day of proper Schmitty tyres and high mileages on any old fuel and oil it was probably worth while.
