what wing mirror?
« on: July 22, 2013, 10:03:19 AM »
final touches for the Trojan that has to be on the road at the DWAC-event in 4 weeks time. What is a close to original wing mirror on the trojan 200?

Round ones look nice, but I fitted the 4-sided wedge/rhombus shape to mine as they give a slightly wider field of view. The narrow end is near the stem, then they get wider further out. I have one on each side, and the central one on the door...I want to know in advance whatever stupid thing the %*&@* behind me is about to do!

I believe that on the Trojan Trust website there is a scan of the optional extras. A red ink leaflet. There is the Trojam Mirror on it. A rare thing. It is pretty similar to the early mirrors for Isetta.
Some garages in Britain chose to fit Desmo Boomerangs for customers - like Mini. These are a bit large for idle styling match.
There is an Albert version of mirror that is principle for the Fiat, if memory serves, which looks well. This might be the same as the Saab one mentioned. Not sure if the Italians use it, might be a German alternative fitting. German eBay?

Richard, I did not realise that was your lovely car in Sparrow! Yup that mirror is pretty, vaguely similar in shape to mine but more rounded and thus more "bubbly", whilst still giving that slightly bigger view than round mirrors.

I know M's soft top well, another beautiful car! When I was getting close to finishing mine I was not sure where to put the horn as different H-Ts have them in different places, some under the floor, some above the 1/4 bumper, some below. The pics of your car settled the matter for me!
Andrea and David sparrow, have both books!

I could only see an inventory list of on the Trojan site but I did find a picture on this page.

I don't know if it helps much!

Looking through some older photos of Trojans, many don't have wing mirrors at all, but the ones that do look most like these two

Looks like it. Mine are on the wings. I am not too bothered with "originality" everywhere, and I suspect various mirrors were fitted during H-T's production life, and possibly by some first owners after for a time driving without mirrors!
