imperial grease nipples
« on: August 10, 2013, 01:24:19 PM »
yet another querie from the ignorant me ! on inspecting the steering and forks i realise  i am missing a nipple there are loads of the smaller size on the controls and forks and two of the larger on the track rod ends  BUT one missing and it's some between size i think . certainly the larger is too big . Question what threads are used on 1950's nipples ? the smaller seems to be 1/4 bsf or is it that it sort of fits ? anyhow i need 1 nipple slightly larger and deeper than i have . where do i go from here ? are the threads bsf or a plumbing thread or what and where would i buy one ? thanks as always

Hi Richard

I hope this might help clarify things a bit, It's from the 1958 Brown Brothers catalogue.

Can you still buy imperial grease?  I thought it was all metric stuff nowadays?   ;)
