Yes definitely Mr Merkelt in the 1940's. ;D
Now I have made contact with Dave Carter who worked making Tourette chassis in the Carr bros factory all sorts of snippets of info are coming to light Richard. I even have a description of Mr Merkelts appearance, he wore big thick lensed spectacles. Maybe that's why the Tourette is so rounded in shape! Dave was taken out in the car to act as ballast whilst the prototype was being put through its paces. Just to add to all the windscreen intrigue, the prototype sported a pair of Brooklands style aero screens!

The Farnham Flyer always raced with an Aeroscreen rather than a rap around screen. If its good enough for him then its good enough for Bob as its in period, too.
