Worst cars ever sold. Giles Chapman
« on: December 30, 2014, 10:53:06 AM »
A friend loaned me this book at the weekend. At first I thought I would rank as the worst book ever sold but it grew on me as I thumbed through its pages.
A few microcars were featured but not as many as one would expect in a book like this.
One car was the British Lloyd600 followed by a few derogatory remarks about Grimsby.
The Reliant and Bond minicar were obviously in it but also a load of mainstream cars that you would think would be less obvious targets of the writers ridicule. The ridicule was tempered by there being two boxes, disadvantages and another with advantages, the advantages nearly always being, something a bit different or good MPG, strong following now with owners club etc.
All in all a very shallow publication but never the less amused me for about an hour.
Anyone else seen it?

Hi Bob, I haven't seen the book myself, but I seem to recollect Stan Cornock giving a rough precis of its authors abilities in the Bond club newsletter.  ;)

Dear Bob

I have this book in my collection. It was given to me by my brother.

In looking through the book I realised almost every car my brother has ever owned was in the book. and none of the cars I have ever owned. That made me smile.

Is it on the list of the worst books ever written on a hackneyed idea? Hackney, historically speaking on the boarder of Middlesex and Essex.

None the worse a good stocking filler, no doubt.

I got this book from Father Christmas this year.
Have enjoyed reading it.

Nice to see the AC Petite and the Allard Clipper.

No mention of an Invacar model 70 so that must be a great car?
