A Bond drove by today !
« on: January 15, 2015, 01:08:59 PM »
It's not very often you see a micro on the road is it , I was just driving along in Chorley and a Bond G estate drove by going the other way . The Bonder probably didn't notice me waving furiously as he was battling with the gorgeous sunshine in his eyes . Pale blue with Royal blue bonnet ( and roof ? ) I have never seen the car before , mind it's a lovely day and there might be a few around as we are only 16 miles from the old factory at Preston . The last time I saw a micro on the road it was also a G estate , that time cream and pale green , and I didn't know that one either , that was in Shropshire much further South . The Last of the Minicars the G' do seem pretty good all rounders ( spell check - alto undies !! )

Sounds a bit like this one that was for sale recently :

Been a long time since VON was in Chorley Plas man.  Both owner and Bond are still around I believe.
Another one from that area and era was Ian Jennison.

I had absolutely no idea what your comment meant !! Red VON Chorley absolute rubbish ! I was thinking red fondue ? Red Chorley cakes ? How on earth are we meant to know VON was ever a Bond ?  :)

No no no . The Bond I saw today was Royal Blue over a very pale blue - predominately the car was really bluey white . The driver at a glance looked a little like Clive Steggel

You need to read that great publication 'Know your Bond'  ;D
VON and it's owner were very well known in Bonding circles years ago.  VON has changed hands several times since then though but remains unchanged.

Dave McNiece, when he had it, always called it "Von"* (and then it went, I think, to Jason H).

*Not as interesting, though, as the Reliant which he called "Diana" - because it was registered XRH

Originally restored and owned by Doug Felton from Chorely.  Brush painted in red enamel which was still wearing when I last seen it a few years ago.  Bob Cotton owned it before Dave McNeice.

Ah there you both have me . I have perused ( spell check perished ) my copy of Know your Bond and can find no reference to red, Chorley or VON . Admittedly all those letters are included but necessarily in the correct order !  :) are there other versions ? No colours or registrations are within .

I think we were both had, there, Richard. Doubting the truth of it, I went straight to my copy, too - no, Bonds are not named, registered or numbered there!
