 Robert Alexander Baron Schutzmann Von Schutzmansdorff "Bob Symes, the inventor, engineer, model maker and genial "Tomorrow's World" presenter has died aged 90.

Thanks for sharing this Marcus, not a name I've heard for a very long time, but one fondly-remembered from those far off days of Model World and Tomorrows World.

you know i couldn't bring him to mind but one look at wiki and of course i remember him , he seemed a very nice gent
 and was good at putting science over easily to the layman

An enthusiasts touch and understanding, rather than shouting at the TV. He did quite a lot of minority TV work. A thinking man's Fred Dibnah. I believe he was a successful inventor in his own right.

He was Al, he devised all sorts of energy storing devices in his home and garden and fed electricity back into the grid; some of these were/are marketed, a bit like Lord Armstrong's victorian house Cragside where he harnessed water power for various large domestic machines.
