You've probably seen this auction coming up already, here's the official auction page with lots of nice pictures. Looking very shiny. Are they new tyres?

Tyres not for Highway service.  It has been painted since it was in Bruce Werners.

I'm pretty sure it was repainted just prior to the auction in 2013.  There was a small issue of discoloration with the outside panel that had the petrol tank.
I should grab the website and auction pics for side-by-side comparison though.

I got under the car a few years prior to the auction.
I was surprised to see signs of minimal maintenance, and some Mickey Mouse arrangement of cabling.
But the cars are so simple, it apparently didn't take much to clean it up and apparently get it right prior to its sale.
Curious to know what got done after that.
I think its being in the Museum is being played up as provenance to increase perceived value, and that Bruce did relatively little restoration on this car.

....Bruce did relatively little restoration on this car.

This Peel was purchased from the previous owner in the UK as a pile of pieces that had not seen the light of day in many years.
Everything had to be gone through, re-assembled, re-painted.  That does not mean it was done well, but it was done.
That being said, they ended up putting the serial number plate on with a piece of very heavy-duty double-stick tape they used a lot for other things.
How much trouble would it have been to screw it on?
I groaned when I saw the tape behind the open holes in the plate when I took this pic of it in December of 2008.

I know where some of that car is still. But that is another story. Much of a Peel is not unique to the brand, so ideally you want one that has not been molested. Thus those few should be more valuable than this one. Its really only those I think I would invest into. Its all a bit of a game though really 'innit?

Isn't it. Basically one of the previous owners did not pass them on, only discovering them years after the sale for, I think it was £35. Not for me to say what they are. Let folk work it out, if they are that bothered.

The price achieved is almost double what Bruce got at his auction in 2012.  Will it ever end ???
I bet Andy Carter is happy with his million pound collection...............
