New Map Solyto
« on: June 08, 2007, 05:24:58 PM »

Just bought a New Map Solyto. Guess it's more of a RUMcars type of thing than my other old triporteurs, so here's some pics for you.

It runs okay and is good condition all round.

It will be while before I get it back from France.

Are there any other Solytos on the RUMcars register? And are there any members of the forum with one?

At this rate I might have to start a list of my 3-wheelers across the bottom of my forum posts :)

There are three Newmap Solytos on the Register including the one in the Hammond Collection.  Isn't about time you registered some of your vehicles not just list them at the bottom of your forum posts then you will be a true RUM Car enthusiast.  Jean

The list at the bottom of forum posts thing was a joke, Jean. My Blotto is the only one I have full details of, so that's ready to put in the post to you.

The Peugeot and Muravey are in my storage place, with no electric light inside, and stuck behind a host of other vehicles; so i can't access their chassis and engine numbers for the time-being. They are both unregistered. Do you want me to add them to the RUM register anyway?

By the way, I work a lot on the computer, so when i can do things like registering a car with a club via the internet it gets done promptly. However, when it involves downloading a form, printing it out, filling it in with a pen, writing out an envelope, and going to the postbox, it ends up as one more work-type job waiting to be done. Probably a sad comment on the daily life of a workaholic, but that's the way it is :)

Oh, you're the one who got the Solyto offered on eBay around january.

I got mine in mid 2006, but I took some work to get it ready for the swiss car inspection (I guess every car brought to switzerland will need some work to pass the inspection)
I have 1967 model, one of the last models before the changed to electronic ignition. As my wife asked for a car with side windows and automatic gears it was rather difficult to find one.

As you probably know, getting tyres is impossible, but they should be availible at the end of August...

Good luck with your car.

Oliver

Hi Oliver, Thanks for the advice on tyres. And great to see your photos - it's certainly ideal transport for a mini-mopetta!

No, I didn't buy it on ebay. The owner is a friend of mine, and i didn't realize he had it until he spotted my Blotto when he visited me a few weeks ago, and things sort of escalated from there. We've done the deal in French so I'm not 100% certain what I'm letting myself in for :)
