Rago microcar

The Rago microcar was made in Guayaqui Street 2922, Montevideo, Uruguay.
12 units were made in 1967 by the Rago brothers.
The Rago was made in Uruguay but used Hispano-Villiers 2 cylinder 325cc engine and transmission. It had a fibreglass body designed by Alfredo de la Mar

I lived in Montevideo for about 4 years 1958-1962, I was 2-6 years old and loved the cars there, Metropolitan, BMW 601, 2CV. I am in contact with Jorge Schneckenberger in Montevideo who is in the Heinkel/Trojan club, he is very into cars, he may be a useful contact for you. We lived just off La Rambla, I think near Punta del Este. Nearby was a large hotel, a French Lycee International (school) and an ice cream parlour. Our house was at the corner of a road junction, with a huge honeysuckle bush around it. We walked along past our bush, crossed the road, went one more block then crossed the Rambla to get on the beach, the hotel and ice cream parlour were to our right as we walked to the sand. I would LOVE to go there again sometime!
Jorge has found several Heinkels surviving in Argentina and Uruguay, and does some restoration. I think he is interested in other cars too.

Oops, me again, just checked with my Mother...actually we lived in Carasco, (but sometimes visited punta del Este). I remember always wanting to swim out to the wreck of the Graf Spee. If you are ever in Carasco with a camera I would love to see some photos of the area, if you can email them to me! I like the look of the Rago, but never heard of it before.

Dammit! You have seen through my cunning disguise! Not me, sadly, but whoever it is really can play...the action is a bit exaggerated, but the person has good wrists and can "play" nicely in time with the music. Perhaps it is Mr Potato Head himself, the great Chill Polins

Nice links to the unusual microcars.

The last 2 comments remind me of a joke about a "dutch cap" ie they went right over my head.
