Oh dear another one of my build threads, hopefully it won't go on as long as the p50 , I will be getting a piaggio ape 50 on the road at the same time as the engine is being rebuilt by Paul smith , any way the trident is using a 49cc moped rear end chopped in half, looks to be an easier build as the engine and wheel are already lined up , dismantled the bike and chopped it up last night

Your Chief Engineer looks like he's raring to go :)

Got the box section out and welded the brackets , engine seems to sit nice

Might leave the stand on
-
For what purpose?
-
No purpose , it will just look funny at car shows with the rear wheel up on a stand , I've ordered the hubs and stub axles , struggling with the steering on this one
-
For some reason I have heard that a Trojan type steering box works out well for this application, but I don't know why.
I also heard that someone in the U.S. was working on replicating the original type chain drive steering box.
But it has been almost 5 years since I first heard this, yet never heard that it was ready for its debut.
Can anyone else help fill inthe blanks here?
-
I will research Trojan steering , the chain driven steering won't be allowed for msva as it seen to be a weak link

Are they 6" rims?
Do you plan on using shocks and springs, or rubber compression pads on this one?
-
All same as p50 to start with , plenty of room under there to change it around if it doesn't drive well

I am watching this one. So I have ideas for when I eventually start mine.
Are these the suspension you brought from Grasshopper?
-
Na I made these , the one grass hopper use is the same one that goes on a p50 , ( don't no why I brought it looking back now) I wanted bigger wishbones for some reason, in the picture obviously it's up on axle stands so to high but you get the idea
-
Where are the hubs and wheels from?
-
These are off grass hopper but they are just high speed trailer wheels and tires, I'm sure they are 6" , few bits through today
-
Perfect family car! Got the rubber mounts for the suspension fitted , sits on its 3 wheels now for the first time , just got to try and think of a way to do the steering

Got a few bits done today , all mock up to see if it works before making stronger parts but steering( which went wrong as bearing wasn't up to the job ) handle bars , tie bar and got it running, I will get that bearing sorted tomorrow and have a little drive

coming together quickly - looking forward to seeing this one!!!
Anybody going to Enfield Pageant this coming weekend. Both Steve and I shall be there with our P50's - so seek us out and say hi!!
-
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h_h7F6Zb7dk It is coming together quickly but abit chucked together to get it to Enfield, can't get the steering to work but engine runs fine
-
Changed the steering set up completely, couple of push rods , seems like it will work
-
.
-
Steering didn't work , to twitchy so brought a steering box , so much more control with it

if the family grows the fitting of a Dicky seat will improve traction !!!
looking great so far - thanks for sharing .

Just had the parts for the steering wheel made up , but the minimum charge was £108 inc vat , so I got 2 if any one wants one and share the cost
-

Steerings looking good. I was looking at replicating the original look when I first got mine.
-
very nice - will it be painted or powder coated
-
yes mate, powder coated
-
...as the Bishop said to the Actress. ;)
-
There must be something going on with all these wheels being cut around recently I thought I would join in , needed a brake disc and speedo drive so I'm guessing this might work
-

-
Trispoked wheel, for a trike called a Trident. Oh, yes! Working well over there.
-
Taken it to a few engineering places and no one wanted to weld car parts , tryed another place and it's been taken in to diside if they will do it so fingers crossed, or I will do an aluminium welding corse
-
Got it welded really nice fit to

you didn't fancy a drum brake at the rear then
-
Keeping drum brake as hand brake , this brake calliper is connected to the fronts , made the speedo drive , just need to make all the brackets
