Lucas indicator switch

Has anyone any experience of taking one of these apart? I've got one switch with a beautiful knob and damage to the mounting plate and another with a beautiful mounting plate and a damaged knob - the electrical side of thigs looks straightforward, but I wondered if these two plastic parts can be seperated?

sorry malcolm i have one here somewhere but couldn't find it to have a look . obviously the centre unscrews to take a bulb is there some sort of circlip in there to release it ?

 I have not immediate access to one but I have a nasty feeling its crimped over like a large rivet. If so it will part but might be a challenge to reassemble. Then again they have been made a long time so there maybe differing patterns over time.

Thanks everyone, I was having trouble unscrewing the bulb cover and thought there might be some other secret mechanism beneath, but it looks like its just a thin alloy tube which is pushed through the knob and then peened over, I'm guessing even if I could unpeen it, it would probably be too fragile to put back together again or make the switch part very difficult to turn.

That is effectively as I remember. Time was these switches were not expensive. However if the price reaches a certain level it is worth replicating the blank of the internal metal part. Then switches that offer perfect elements can be assembled. As to a fix now, I cannot offer a solution.

To be fair to Bond, the indicators (and the switch) are accessories, not original equipment. I've tested the hand signals, and they still work.

I just had a look at an old switch I have (lugs broken on base plate), and yes, I reckon the switch is held together by peening over the central brass tube.  Not likely to allow a reliable fix.

It would be nice on an older Bond to use the Lucas part that later Bonds used, but not compulsory.  I recall my Mk C, in 1970, had had flashers fitted even back then, which used a 3-position toggle switch on the dash, with separate warning lamp, and there are other models similar to the Lucas one that come rather cheaper.  For example, right now on eBay:

Is there a difference - the serial numbers quoted are different and there is quite a difference in price (at the moment).

I have a black one of these bodged onto my Heinkel scooter - temporarily in about 1985.  If I could find a good Heinkel switch I could release the Lucus bodge.

Is the Heinkel switch difficult to get? Used to see them at Mannhiem.

Out of sight, out of mind.  Once the Heinkel Tourist went into storage I forgot all about replacing the Lucus switch.
