You know, some folk really should be more careful over what they say on this forum & for the danger of what they may start. ;) Take for instance, Bob Purton's comment iof "Can't abide scruffy cars on the forum" within the recent Mystery Car post, as such a comment is guarenteed to be like a red rag to a bull when such a person as I is within earshot..... :-*
Can you guess what's coming?..... 8)
Yes folks, you know me too well, ;D & without further ado, I present, in Bob's honour;
THE SCRUFFY MICROCAR GALLERY!
:o ;D 8) :-* :D

And we can't possibly celibrate scruffy cars without the daddy itself...... ;D

Let's have more scruffy car pics added here everybody, more, more, much more...........!

That Mopetta was in Spain
I got an email from the owner who was looking for information to restore it.
apparently he emailed a number of people and one of them simply asked him if he wanted to sell it and he said "yes" and so it was sold.
It could have been mine for the asking, but I never thought to ask! (I am not a collector...)
anyways, the car is now in Japan
here is my entry to the Scruffy Car gallery:

I think Scruffy Cars that Run would be a good topic as well!
-
How about this one? ;D
(http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z28/robbie-dee-photos/GORDON_15_4_09_004.jpg)
Can you see what it is yet? (Apologies to Rolf Harris) ;)
-
Yeaaaah, i love the scruffy gallery!!!!!
Thank you for starting this Stuart. Good man !
-
Although I prefer cars in good nick I do also like to see the scruffballs, nice pics. Jim: what is that blue van in the foreground, and is that a Tempus behind it ?
-
Believe it or not I have owned some scruffy cars too!
LIke this for example.

My Schmitt was pretty scruffy too when I got it . Here it is in part.
Rob, Do you recognise the vehicle in the garage doorway?
-
And here is the rest of it.
-
The thing is they should not be left to stay scruffy or they rot away and we have no microcars.(http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm224/gyrostarter/IMG_0012.jpg)
-
Dear Marcus
The blue Van is a Biscuter Comercial probably about 1960, Made in Spain
Chris Thomas

To think I passed up the chance to buy this scruffy one. One of two of the only original British imports and the only ones to be made with dynastarts! Where is it now? Is it still in the UK, YES!! Will it be at the celebration weekend? NO!! (http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm224/gyrostarter/IMG_0001-1.jpg)(http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm224/gyrostarter/IMG-5.jpg)
-
Biscuter, DUH! I should have realised, but never seen their van before
-
Rob, Do you recognise the vehicle in the garage doorway?
Yes Bob, here it is outside the garage. ;D

I thought you would know it, the world of Gordon fans has to be fairly small. Now you know where my schmitt wreck came from. Cheers, Bob I must remember your raspberry wagon wheel.
-
What is the Velorex doing here? It is "Museum Quality!"
-
Yes, it's over-restored, and in better condition than my old one!
-
This Kleinschnittger was offered to me ages ago, but i didn't purchase it. What a mistake, i reckon.
-
Whats the Velorex doing here? I just wanted to let the Young whipper snapper Stuart know that some real dogs have passed through my hands. I wondered when someone was going to accuse me of over restoring it! Marcus, you are a wagg!
-
Mine used to get a lot of looks when driven around London. Quite a number of coppers had a good long look too, but probably figured that no-one would DARE drive such a grotbag without it being legal
-
Scruffy and gorgeous !

The Frankenschmitt does look pretty bad in that picture. But, here is a picture of what my first 'schmitt looked like when I bought it from the Microcar Museum. Can you believe the guy pulled up in a semi and asked me how I wanted to unload it?
(http://www.aquateenshungerforce.com/frankenschmitt/messerschmitt113005a 001b.JPG)
Here is how we got it down. It was pretty scary!
And it was in much worse shape than the pictures show. Here is what it looked like when I finished it. I sold it in a moment of weakness.

Quite a transformation, Dr. What is a "semi"? Yes I know it's some kind of lorry, but why "semi", which means half?
Also love the Flitzer
-

Isn't it what we call an artic? (Articulated lorry).
-

I think the word "fans" should be translated to Owners. ;D
-
I think Americans do say semi to mean articulated, but can never get a clear historical/lingual reason. Is an artic half as big again, or half as rigid, or semi-detached or half a coupon short of a pop up toaster?

Semi is short for semi-trailer, what we call and artic, short for articulated lorry. It typically has one group of axles which are usually at the rear, though sometimes in the centre. It is opposed to a full trailer, which has an axle on the front and is drawn using a towing bar. Here in the UK, you only tend to see full trailers behind rigid (non articulating) lorries but in other parts of the world, it is not uncommon to see a full trailer hitched to the back of a semi trailer.
Oh the joys of working in the truck industry.
-
Cheers, Squire!
Despite my regular visits to America no-one has ever been able to give me a proper explanation!
Alright, if you're so clever, now tell me what LTD means with regards to US lorries!

I think you are right there Rob. There are probably more owners than fans and you can count them on one hand.
-
I cannot say I am a fan of Gordons as such, but they are so rare and well-worth preserving for posterity, and I am looking forward to seeing a decent one.
-

It would be a funny hand with 5 fingers and a thumb as there are SIX Gordons known so far. All in different conditions. ;D
-
Even though these are not Micro's, being A30's and Minors, they may qualify as scruffy. This picture was taken last month at Crediton when Stuart and myself went to the Stags auction there. Yes, they did sell, and all individually......Ian. ;D

Are they in Eastern Europe? Scruffy is the word, I like the "Munsters" style cobwebs!
-
The rusty remains at the side. Is it a Triumph 1800 or Renown circa 1950s? ;D
-
;D I have no idea what it is
But this is a great Fuldamobil find on the Malta island:
