I have just aquired a villiers 11e engine and gearbox with dynastart and fan cooling. It has sheet metal cowling instead of cast ally and the exhaust goes to the right of the engine instead of the left. All the cables are there but the siba control is missing. My question is this. Its an electric start, reverisng, fan cooled engine but what can it be out of .The mk1 frisky is a 9e and i think the scootacar is the same,so any ideas please.

Hi
I am not an expert on the Villiers 11e, there are others out there who are, however if you are after a Villiers 9e for a Frisky Family Three then you have a job on your hands.
There are several 11e’s fitted in Friskys because of the dire shortage of 9e’s.
I believe the 11e was fitted in the invacar (help Stuart) and if yours came out of one of these it will need its gears sorted out (great acceleration up to 20mph). I would think that they are electric start with a reverse function as invacar users would need that.
I hope this helps, if you are going down the Frisky route let me know

Not so much the gears sorting out but the appropriate sprockets. It will also have the sequential gearbox and not the posative stop type. A problem if you dont have a gear lever gate.

What's the first four digits of the engine spec number? For example, "313F, or "314F"....
-
The ref no starts 419f if that helps.
-
419F is the spec fitted to the 1970 "fibreglass" AC Acedes Mk 15, so yes, an invalid carriage engine. :) More importantly, where's the rest of the car? ::) Also, post 1960 carriages were not restricted to 20mph. This engine will be good for at least 50 in standard spec....

The car does not exist as it came from a model train society and was bought to fit rolling stock, but not used. Will probably sell it on as i now have a 4T twin to fit my frisky.Thank you
for the information. I was baffled.

Hi Super-se7en
Drop me an email about your Frisky will you, I'd like to hear about it and may be able to help
Thanks
John

We have a use for that engine then, I think, Root.
'Found' some more IC
4T in a Frisky, interesting.
-
just what i was wondering . to those not in the know the 4T is villiers 250 twin engine . but why in a Frisky ? :-\
-
on second thoughts with 250cc and reversible dynastart whatever was i thinking - its surely going to do the job

hi stuart
engine 11E number 338E 13240 -is this scooter or invacar ? would you know ? thanks
-
Amazingly I've managed to find out!!! Would you believe I was flicking through an old Bonhams motorcycle auction catalogue of 1998 earlier this afternoon & one of the lots is a 1964 DOT TD trials model with, and I quote; "197cc Villiers 11E engine, number 338E 12998. :o
-
oh wow thanks stuart that sounds worth money ! :)
-
thanks stuart for finding that reference , on looking more deeply i realise that the villiers 9E/11E wasnt necessarily fitted with electric start or fan cooling - but it COULD be if required by the vehicle manufacturer . my mistake as DOT Trials bikes wouldnt be so fitted but my engine with very similar number sequence was so fitted - do you have any cowling pics ? thanks
