Title: Brand New RUMcars Website!
Post by: Jonathan Poll on July 27, 2011, 10:14:24 AM
Hello,

As you all probably know, I am in charge of the new RUMcars site.

I have been working on it for quite a while now, very time consuming, and also had to start afresh when I changed the complete layout.

At first, I just made a newer version of the old one, that means duck blue background, and same layout, but we (me and Chris Thomas) both decided to change it.

The site is not yet "live", so when you go to "rumcars.org" it will still bring you to the old site. For now, my site is still hidden, since its still not finished, but I do have a small screenshot of one of the pages (RUMcars Shop)

Notice the brand new layout, easier to read text, large banner on every page.

The tabs will lead to more screens with a lot more information for car registration, Magazine subscription, Finding the exact back issue, more links, a a big archive of pictures and potted history of each microcar which will grow over the next 3-5 years.

It is intended to be easier for new people to find their way around the site as well as provide additional information that will attract people to return to the site for additional information.

Everything has changed and will be up to date content wise and is expandable if we want to add more sections.

Chris Thomas has done a great job with the ideas of the site, so Thanks Chris!

Hope you enjoy the screenshot!

No idea when the new site will be live, but once you use it, you will (hopefully!) Love it!

It looks great. It could do with a higher quality banner photo if anyone has something suitable and don't forget to run a spell checker over any text. "adress", "Checqes"

Yes, well done Jonathan. We could do with a different photo as we have been looking at that one for many years. Any ideas anyone?

If the weather is good on Sunday we can collect all the cars together on Jeans lawn and do a set of new images each one with a different vehicle at the front. So get those bodies buffed up ready.

Dear Rumblers! I like that Chris!!  Good idea about getting the cars together at the weekend for some new pics. A constantly changing picture would be great but could Jonathan do it? Theres a challange if ever there was one!

First of all, thanks everyone for the lovely comments!

Don't blame me for the text, Chris Thomas sent it all to me, I just copy/pasted it onto my site code ;)

Sadly, it is quite hard to make an interactable anner (yes, its classed as that), and is way beyond my league, sorry...

If you bring out the cars, can someone please take a few nice pics of the Nobel? May be good for reference.

Great idea to bring them out and take a new photo.

Thanks for all the support, JP

Nice idea to have an "interactive  anner", some nice photos of  ubble cars,  onds,  iscuters,  erkeleys and   MW Isettas would  e great!
Sorry, just could not resist! Hoping I might be able to get there one way or another, sadly DUF is sorned at the present due to lack of time, so I will either make my own way if possible or ride along with Goggo.

So, if someone finds out the URL, you can see the whole site WIP, but you shall not know until the site is done :P

It looks good and all seemed to work fine. I particularly like the new links/pages (index and archive) that will help with reference and I hope these will be easy to access and contribute to. Some of the text in the images looks a bit rough and could be a bit on the small side.

Hey,

I know they where quite pixely, but its all I was sent. I may make my own some time, since the site is stil lnot finished. I guess most mods will be made after its finished (so it wont be finished, said that one for you Stuart ;) ).

Links page is very clear, and to add a ink, you just have to send me an email!
