i have 2 Villiers brochures May 1957 and September 1960 , both feature a 2T (249 twin ) engine , and by 1960 the 324 3T. The two engines are different regarding cowling , fan and which side the starter motor .
Question are there other differences , are they interchangeable , why the changes , where they available at the same time and finally which type do people have in their Scootacars ? and are these original ?
also does the 3T engine look the same as the 1960 2T ? - i assume so

Mk111 scootacar has a 3t, no scootacars had a 2t from the factory.
-
Thanks Grant so.... MKI Scootacar had 9E as this pic - same questions as before please . MKIII had 3T what did the MKII Scootacar have ex-factory then
-
Not me Richard, ;D
The Frisky Sport and Zeta Runabout also had the 3T fitted.
Scootacar Deluxe (Mk2), was fitted was a 197cc 9E but the later type with tin cowls

So is it a myth that some Mk2's had an 11e?

sorry grant i always get your two i.d.'s mixed up . the other is stephens son who is only known as his mk I i.d. thanks both

The 9E fitted to the Mk2 looks very much like an 11E so is easily confused. The 11E is a further development of this type of 9E, which is a development of the 9E shown in Richards picture. All about reducing costs and different gear ratios.

Biggest difference I guess is that the fan is on the opposite side.
-
obviously variously written up over the years - Tony Marshalls book on Mirocars lists the 250 twin engine as being in the rare MK III Scootacars but fails to mention the 324cc at all . Malcolm Bobbits nice little book lists the MK II as having 250 single and the MK III as 324cc twin ! but now told no 250 ( single or twin ) being fitted to a Scootacar hence forgive those not in the know entirely asking the questions now

Scootacar MkI
I see on the Scootacar website the question is asked as to the location of the windmill behind the MkIII Scootacar on test.
Well I can confirm it is close to my home town of Reigate, Surrey. It is unmistakeably Wray Common windmill with its gothic windows and lovely grain store alongside, here it is in 1955

I remember shearing the front brake drum rivets right here on the Bond and wondering why the drive chain was going round and the car was at a standstill. I replaced them with cut down steel woodscrews, happy student days!
Trust this is of interest
