Hi Jean,
I've spoken to Eddy about his Galland, and tried to help him sell it when it was on ebay. I've known about it since last year. Have not turned up any more Galland history yet. But I will do in due course...
I've recently accepted the post of marque specialist for the VMCC (Vintage Motorcycle Club) for 'three wheeled commercials,' which is designed to cover all open 3-wheelers except those already covered by club specalists such as DOT, Reliant, Raleigh and Morgan, or cars covered by RUMcars.
I've been researching and collecting info on these vehicles for a while. But have not turned up anything to add to Galland history yet. It amazes me how the French vintage hobby is simply not centralized. I often discuss this with my French vintage m/c hobby friends. But you have to remember that the French Police Force is also totally regionalized. And vehicle registration is also done per region. There may be several clubs in one town, and area clubs all over the country, but not much to unite them and pool info. I saw a BBC4 TV programme last week about the Edwardian era (don't watch TV usually, but made an exception for this series) and it showed how all the French regions were absolutely totally different culturally, and only forced to become 'French' at that time (through war).
My scouts in France are actively looking for more triporteur copy for me, and I'll add it to
http://triporteurs.wordpress.com as it comes in.
I've bought quite a few 1920's French vintage motorcycle magazines from ebay on spec, to see if I can turn anything up on my Blotto - but they never seem to have any triporteur articles or ads in them! I love research though, so I'm confident I'll find more in due course.
A batch of 2 dozen 1950's French scooter magazines arrived yesterday (along with my FD 125 at long last), one of my French friends delivering to me on his way to Netley Marsh autojumble. Looks like they have some good microcar pics and articles in too, so i'll upload them when i get a moment.
I did manage to buy a 1924 copy of French Sporting Mirror last month which had a full page article on the annual triporteur race, with photos that I'd not come across before:
