Quick question - must I have 90 degree valves on tubes , on the 8"Bond wheels or can I get away with straight thanks as always :)

You can get away with straight, although I think some have shorter valve stems which might them tricky to pump up. I can recommend these if you want the bent type.

Just to muddy the waters there is more than one angle available for bent valves. 90 and 45 degrees.
-
I didn't know that. I'd guess 45 degree ones could be the ideal compromise between ease of fitting and getting a pump to fit, but I've never seen them. As far as I know 90 degree ones were original fitment on Bonds.

go for the cranked valve stem - if you use a modern tube with rubber valve stem you will have to ream/drill out the hole in the rim .
have you thought about cutting the old tubes up and using them as gaiters - between the tube and wheel rim on split rim's , originally fitted by Bond factory to new cars , the gaiter is another item that you cant get in this modern day .
-
Great idea re cutting up old tubes as it saves pinching the tube when bolting the wheel halves together , I have done it before - problem no old tubes this car has NOTHING :)
-
Have you used those Malcolm , it doesn't say how "bent " - thanks
-
Yep, it does say in the ad that brand names will vary, but the ones I got were really good quality and had 90 degree stems.

I buy mine from Beedspeed scooters, Michelin so you cant go wrong although a pound or two dearer.

The 45 degree ones are hard to find now in 8" by a known brand, it depends if you want to risk a wheelbarrow tube like this. If you intend to actually get the car on the road[not being funny!] I would stick to a road going tube like the Michelin.
